As we know the spread of Covid-19 has been tremendous for people
across the globe. Its impacts have changed some aspects of our life, such

REMINISCENCE OF THE FIRST PETRA ACITYA C-FEST
Petra Acitya Christian Junior High School conducted some fun activities for the students in a series of
cultural festivals called Petra Acitya Cultural Festival that was held from October 8th to 13th, 2020.
During the festival, the students enjoyed some activities related to Korean, Chinese, Indonesian and
English Language and Culture. The festival became more interesting as the students performed their
group projects which combined dancing, music and

SeungChan who had lived in Indonesia for several years. He presented Korean ethics and values,
traditional cuisines, architecture, and festivals. Moreover, Mr Park Seung Chan also shared his experience
about conscription in the South Korean military. Through the talk show, the students were able to learn
more about Korean culture and identify the similarities and differences of Korean and Indonesian
cultures. After that, the students participated in a Kahoot! Competition to see who had the best
knowledge about Korean culture and enjoyed the performances of K-Pop Dance Cover finalists. It was a
fun day as the students were really enthusiastic to join all of the activities on Korean Day.

keynote speaker. The discussion was about the role of ACT in providing
the skills that are needed in the 21st century and the role of English in
order to be a global citizen for Petra Acitya students. Mr Keith
emphasized the importance of communication, collaboration, creativity
and critical thinking in order to be successful in this era. After the talk
show, the students enjoyed presentations about unique cultures around
the world by the finalists of the Public Speaking Competition. At the end,
Petra Acitya Cultural Festival was closed by students’ virtual performing
arts online voting from the audience.
Through this event, Petra Acitya has expanded students’ knowledge through fun
learning and activities. As there are four major skills that are needed in order to be
successful in the 21st century, Petra Acitya has provided such opportunities for the
students. They were able to develop their communicative and collaborative skills by doing
multidisciplinary teamwork in the preparation and finalization of their virtual art performances.
The students were encouraged to be creative and confident in showing their talents to their friends,
teachers and relatives in their performances during Petra Acitya Cultural Festival.

METODE PEMBELAJARAN TERBARU DI PPPK PETRA SILABAN
Di sekolah, siswa cenderung dituntut untuk mencatat dan menghafalkan JUARA II LOMBA
yang disampaikan oleh guru. Dari sini siswa dapat melatih kemampuannya MENULIS ARTIKEL
mengingat sesuatu yang akan dituliskannya nanti diatas lembar ujian. SINGKAT TENTANG
Namun, apakah dengan sistem menghafal seperti ini dapat memastikan PPPK PETRA
bahwa mereka mengerti dan menguasai materi yang diberikan? Terlebih
lagi dengan pandemi yang mengharuskan para siswa untuk mengikuti DALAM RANGKA
pembelajaran jarak jauh. Siswa kini terpaksa harus lebih individualis, HUT KE-70
menyebabkan mereka kesusahan untuk berdiskusi maupun bertukar PPPK PETRA
pendapat akan catatan materi pelajaran.
Menyadari akan kelemahan sistem pembelajaran pada umumnya, Petra
hadir dengan sebuah metode pembelajaran baru yang disebut
Independent Learning. Nah, apakah Independent Learning ini? Apakah
metode tersebut tepat untuk diterapkan guna meningkatkan kualitas
pembelajaran siswa?
Independent Learning adalah sebuah metode pembelajaran yang
mengharuskan siswa untuk belajar secara independen, atau bisa diartikan
dengan belajar sendiri. Itu berarti, pihak guru hanya cukup memberikan
gambaran besar daripada materi yang akan dipelajari. Sehingga siswa akan
mencari sendiri penjelasan dan pendalaman materi dari buku, artikel,
koran, internet, dll.
Dengan metode tersebut, siswa menjadi terbiasa dengan mencari dan
mengartikan penjelasan materi dari berbagai sumber sendiri.

mengembangkan bakat dan minat para generasi penerus bangsa.
Bakat merupakan hal yang dimiliki semua orang tak terkecuali satu pun,
sedangkan minat adalah ketertarikan seseorang dalam melakukan sesuatu.
Hal yang membedakan adalah bagaimana cara kita mengembangkan
bakat dan minat itu sendiri. Perlu kita ingat semua orang dapat sukses
tergantung bagaimana kita mengembangkan bakat yang dimiliki Tidak
lupa, minat juga merupakan salah satu faktor utama yang dapat
mendukung bakat kita. Tanpa minat, bakat tidak akan bisa digunakan
