FALL & WINTER Highlights

Art by the Lake: September 1-3
The Leech Lake Arts League Show and Sale is held annually at
Chase on the Lake in Walker Minnesota and features around 30
local artists. Many art forms will be on exhibit including watercolor,

acrylic and oil paintings, drawings, photography, pottery, gourds, fused glass, and
jewelry. It is an art event not to be missed.

Headwaters 100 Bike Ride: September 23

*GCFYCVGTU Fall is a great time to see the Lakes Area. Itascatur puts on this ride in

2015 September each year as a 45, 75 or 100 mile bicycle ride with over

650 riders. There are multiple stops throughout the completely paved route. The casual

ride sees riders bring everything from road bikes to mountain bikes to crossovers, bike

trailers hauling gear or children and more.

Art Leap: September 23-24
Enjoy the fall colors on a driving tour of artists’ studios and other
cultural destinations throughout our mysterious Jack Pine woods.
Meet artists and artisans in their studios and workshops. Enjoy

live performances of music. Maps are available at the Visitor Center and the event is
free to the public.

Take a Walk on the Wild Side Wild Rice Festival: October 21
This all day event promotes regional artists, musicians and the
natural wild rice unique to our region of the world.

Light Up A Life Community Tree Lighting Ceremony: November 24
Kick off the holiday season in true small town Norman Rockwell

Light Up style. The entire community gathers on the wide street of Main to
a Life witness the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree. A live nativity,
visit from Santa Claus and singing carols make the evening

American Legion Ice Fishing Contest: February 3, 2018
The first Saturday in February always promises to be a great day
on the ice for the American Legion Community Fishing Derby on
Fish Hook Lake. Thousands of fishing enthusiasts enjoy great food,

dancing and an awards presentation for a weekend of fun. The derby offers one of
the largest purses in Minnesota with over $130,000 in cash and prizes.
