summertime
A nostalgic montage of joyful summertime memories, this bright dance theater piece will have you bobbing to
the music and movement. The first section explores slow, sultry movement; in the second section dancers speak

about summer memories; the third section bounces us through the sweet treats.

NK&D / a movement company(Astoria)
NK&D (Nicole Kadar and Dancers) has shown work in Jennifer Muller’s Hatch Series, the Kaye Theater,
Triskelion’s WAX works, The Ailey Studios, Queensborough Dance Festival’s 2018-2021 Tours and Culture Lab LIC.
Our newest work "between the balance" won Best Experimental Film 2022 (cinematographer - Steven Speliotis,
score - William Catanzaro).

Traditional Kathak Solo*
A traditional Kathak Solo is typically done with live musicians over an hour, however, the same can be
conveyed in a shorter piece. We start with a thaat (slow body postures), followed by Tukra (rhythmic

compositions), then a Gat sequence (expressive segment), ending with fast and intricate footwork.

Urvashie Kissoon(Forest Hills)
Urvashie Kissoon is trained in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Kathak. She has performed at notable venues
such as the City Hall of New York and Metropolitan Museum of Art, amongst others. Urvashie has performed
across the U.S., including Kolkata, India, and Seville, Spain. Urvashie completed her Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi,
Kathak Rangmanch Pravesh.

Before Sunset*
After being a performance artist and living in American culture for many years, we will introduce Taiwanese folk

dances and connect them with other dance styles. Focuses on creating and researching dialogue between
dance movements and violin. Chieh created movements based on Yoyo’s movements, who dances and plays

violin simultaneously.

Chieh & Yoyo(Woodside)
Graduated from Taiwan, moved to NYC 2014. She presented her choreography all across NYC & Taiwan. Such
as concert tours, TV series, performing off Broadway, was invited to the 92Y Asian Choreographer Festival as
part of the Asian World Tour at Lincoln Center,and presented work at The Emerging Female Choreographers
Project which was an audience favorite.

Greek Dance Medley
We will be dancing a medley of 4 dances from various regions in Greece.

Greek American Folklore Society(Astoria)
The Greek-American Folklore Society is dedicated to the study, preservation and instruction of the history and
traditions of Hellenic folk culture. We share our work with the public through stage re-enactments of traditional
Greek customs, songs and dances, as well as through lectures, exhibits and workshops. Dance with us!

Who Am I*
This piece is all about self discovery, and the willingness to accept where I am in my life.

Cole Collective(Astoria)
Nicole Ohr is a professional tap dancer based in NYC. She was the tap dance captain of Undertoe Dance
Project and a member of Germaine Salsberg’s Les Femmes. Currently, Nicole is the Artistic Director of Cole
Collective, an Astoria-based tap dance company, and is co-producer of Dance Astoria.

You Don't Have To Love Me, Just Accept Me
We cannot agree with everything or everyone. But We have to respect each other’s existence or boundaries.
Accepting everyone’s existence is coexisting. “We are totally different, and this is our power and best quality,

acceptance for diversity and exploring the unknown is what makes progress and beauty”.

sarAika movement collective(Ridgewood)
sarAika is a movement collective based in New York since 2021, funded by Aika Takeshima and Sara Pizzi,
immigrants, multidisciplinary artists, activist and lgbtqa+ supporters and representers. We make art about and
for humans. Our goal is to create awareness and reflection on actual global social issues creating interactive
experiences.

Connection*
We have traversed through a pandemic that has made us seek isolation. We hope to play off of the ways we

had to connect such as zoom chats, facetime and phone calls. We will play off of these communication
techniques that were vital to our connection and show how a Kingdom community and family finds
connection and strength again.

The Kingdom Dance Company(Rosedale)
Kingdom Dance Company, created by Queen TuT. Credits include BET, MTV, Wyclef Jean, Ariana Grande,
DMC, Patty Labelle and Lupe Fiasco. She teaches dance students, emotionally challenged/autistic children
and mentally disabled adults while surviving the battle with Lupus. She dances standing, on crutches or in

wheel-chair to prove her resilience!

The Queensboro Dance Festival (QDF) was launched in 2014 with the mission to strengthen the dance
community in Queens, and garner a greater appreciation for Queens dance. Presenting Queens-based
dance companies of diverse cultures and styles, QDF tours performances & classes every summer throughout
Queens theaters, parks, plazas, libraries, and street events to bring local dance to Queens neighborhoods, and

provides career resources for Queens dancers.
