LEGISLATIVE LUNCHEON

KAC’s 23rd Annual Legislative Luncheon provides a unique forum for legislators and
staffers on the city, county, state, and federal levels to engage with Korean American
constituents and leaders of the Greater Los Angeles Korean American community. The
luncheon provides an opportunity for community leaders, community members, and
elected officials to discuss issues and topics relevant to the Korean American
community, as well as to build relationships that are crucial to advocating for the
interests and needs of this community.

KAC SERVICES AND PROGRAMS

ADVOCACY & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

KAC works with government agencies and community coalitions to remove systemic
and linguistic barriers to meaningful civic participation, and to enhance the civic
representation of the Korean American community, speaking out on salient issues that
affect our community.

US CITIZENSHIP
As part of enhancing political participation among Korean Americans, KAC provides
citizenship application and green card renewal services to applicants at an affordable
cost. Since 1983, KAC has assisted more than 40,000 people through the naturalization
process and stands as one of the longest continuously running Korean American
organizations to provide such services.

VOTER REGISTRATION
KAC currently operates the longest continuously-running civic participation program
in the Korean American community. This program is dedicated to empowering the
Korean American community by increasing Korean American engagement in the
American democratic process.

시민권 신청 및 유권자 등록

한미연합회는 저렴한 비용으로 시민권 신청 및 영주권 갱신 등 다양한 이민 서비스를 제공하고
있습니다. 1983년부터 현재까지 약 4만 여명의 시민들의 귀화 신청을 도와드림으로써 한인 커
뮤니티 내 가장 오래된 귀화 서비스 제공 단체로 자리매김하고 있습니다. 시민권 획득 시 투표
참여, 연방 정부 취업 및 복지 혜택 자격 충족, 대학 학자금 대출 등 다양한 혜택을 누리실 수
있습니다.
또한 유권자 등록에 앞장서면서 한인 커뮤니티의 정치 참여를 북돋우고 있습니다. 한인들의 동
등한 사회 참여와 의사 표현의 중요성을 강조하고 선거 때마다 모든 사람들이 투표에 참여할
수 있도록 유권자 등록 캠페인, 워크샵, 토론회 등을 개최하고 있습니다.

KAC SERVICES AND PROGRAMS

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

MODEL UNITED NATIONS (MUN)
KAC MUN is a civic engagement program for middle / high school students in the Los
Angeles County. Acting as delegates from the United Nations (UN) member states,
students attend conferences throughout the state to discuss a wide variety of past and
current global issues. KAC MUN provides participants with opportunities to practice
and learn problem-solving as it can be applied to their own lives, which involves
inclusive dialogue, communication, and teamwork.

NATIONAL COLLEGE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (NCLC)
NCLC is the longest continuously-running annual leadership conference for Korean
American students. NCLC strives to educate and inspire future generations of Korean
Americans and develop leaders among them. Attendees hone their leadership skills by
meeting accomplished Korean American professionals, engaging in skill-building
exercises, and learning about Korean American and Asian American history and
identity.

SUMMER COLLEGE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (SCIP)
SCIP expands on NCLC by providing students with personal and professional
development opportunities. Each summer, KAC places 15-20 interns in government,
non-profit, corporate, and media positions for seven weeks. Through community
organizing and advocacy training at KAC and a student-driven community-building
project, these interns develop crucial leadership skills and experience.

리더십 교육

모의유엔 (MUN):
Model United Nations (MUN) 또는 모의유엔 프로그램은 로스앤젤레스 카운티에 거주하는 중/고
등학생들의 적극적인 시민적 참여를 장려하기 위한  프로그램입니다. 학생들은 유엔(UN) 회원국의 대
사로 모의 유엔 회의에 참여하며 활동 기간 중 여러 번의 컨퍼런스에 참가하게 됩니다. 회의와 연설을
성공적으로 수행하기 위해 학생들은 자신이 맡은 주제에 대한 심도 깊은 연구와 조사를 하게 됩니다.
이를 통해 학생들은 현재와 과거, 그리고 미래의 글로벌 이슈들에 대해 다양한 지식과 견문을 쌓을 수
있습니다.

전미 대학생 리더십 컨퍼런스 (NCLC):
전미 대학생 리더십 컨퍼런스 (NCLC)는 미국 내에서 코리안 어메리칸 대학생 대상의 리더십 프로그램
중 가장 오래 지속되어 온 프로그램입니다. 매년 여름 1주일 간 캠프 형식으로 진행되는 NCLC는 전국
대학생들이 한 자리에 모여 정부, 법조계, 의학, 언론, 비영리단체 등의 한인 전문가들로부터 미국에서
사는 한인으로서의 정체성에 대해 학습하고 자신의 커리어에 대해 고민하는 매우 좋은 기회입니다.

하계 대학생 인턴십 프로그램 (SCIP):
한미연합회 하계 대학생 인턴십 프로그램(SCIP)은 유망한 한인대학생들에게 개인역량과 전문역량
개발 기회를 제공하여 코리안 어메리칸 커뮤니티의 차세대 리더십을 함양할 수 있는 프로그램입니
다. 매년 여름 한미연합회는 약 7주 간 15-20명의 대학생들을 정부, 비영리/영리 단체, 언론사 등 자
신의 관심 분야로의 인턴십을 배정해주고 있습니다.

CENSUS INFORMATION CENTER (CIC)

The Census Information Center (CIC) Program is a cooperative venture between the
U.S. Census Bureau and organizations such as community-based organizations,
colleges, and universities. CICs serve as auxiliary census data distribution centers for
the public. Census data is valuable in that it is used for activities such as program
planning, advocacy, needs assessment, defining service areas, public policy
development, developing new business enterprises, and race/ethnic related research.
KAC is one of the fifty-two non-profit organizations participating in the CIC Program
in 22 states (including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico).

인구 조사 정보 센터

인구조사 정보 센터(CIC) 프로그램은 인구조사, 보고서, 그리고 인구조사 정보를 지역사회가 효율적
으로 접근할 수 있도록 정보 제공 및 보조하는데 기반을 두고 있으며 이를 바탕으로 여러 기관들이 소
외된 계층들에게 읽기 수월하고 이해하기 쉬운 형식으로 자료를 보급할 수 있게 합니다.
한미연합회(KAC)는 CIC 프로그램에 참여하는 52개의 국가 및 지역 기관 중 하나로 22개 주(D.C. 와
Puerto Rico 포함)의 지역 대학, 연구 기관, 소외 지역 상공회의소 및 어린이, 노인, 소외 지역 민권
향상 기관들이 동참하고 있습니다.

KAC ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION (ADR) CENTER

The KAC ADR Center provides mediation and conflict resolution services to the diverse
communities in LA County, with a focus on Korean Americans. Founded in 1997 and in
response to the 1992 LA Riots, the Center strives to provide efficient and culturally
sensitive means of resolving disputes between parties without recourse to the court
system. Mediation is a confidential, voluntary, and informal process where a neutral
third party (mediator) assists disputants in reaching a negotiated and mutually
accepted agreement. The Center also offers conciliation, which is also a confidential,
voluntary, and informal process whereby the neutral third party aids the disputants in
reaching a mutually accepted agreement by communicating with each disputant
independently.

KAC 중재 조정 센터

KAC 중재 조정 센터는 1992년 LA 폭동 당시 LA를 휩쓴 인종간 갈등에 대처하기 위해 설립되었습니다.
LA 카운티의 기금으로 운영되는 12개의 지역사회 중재 조정 프로그램 중의 하나이며, 저렴한 비용으로
효과적인 중재조정 대안을 제공하여 언어장벽에 부딫히는 한인들을 돕고 있습니다. 한미연합회는 1997
년에 중재조정 센터를 설립해 커뮤니티의 갈등과 분쟁에 대한 조정서비스를 제공해 오고 있습니다. 저
희 중재조정 센터는1998년부터 로스앤젤레스 카운티 분쟁해결 프로그램의 지원으로 조정서비스를 제
공해오고 있습니다.

The Korean American Coalition-Los Angeles (KAC) is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1983 to
promote the civic and civil rights interests of the Korean
American community. KAC endeavors to achieve these

goals through education, community organization,
leadership development, and coalition-building with

diverse communities.

한미연합회는 비영리, 비정파를 지향하는 지역사회
단체입니다. 1983년에 설립된 한미연합회는 교육, 지
역사회결속, 그리고 다양한 지역공동체와 연합 형성
을 통해 코리안 어메리칸 지역사회 현안 문제, 민원의

해결과 민권 증진을 목적으로 삼고 있습니다.
