This doctoral program promotes and develops research integrated with knowledge from local wisdom. It creates opportunities for new knowledge in medicines, herbs, and other health products and public health systems. Further, it involves managing the country's pharmaceutical system and health policy to produce research results or new knowledge that can be transferred to society or innovations that can be used to solve the country's pharmaceutical problems. The program encourages the country's development towards a state of self-reliance in terms of the people's social, economic and well-being. The Doctor of Philosophy Program in Pharmacy is a joint program with the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chiba University, Japan. Students enrolled in this course conduct research in pharmaceutical sciences. Those participating in the dual degree program will receive degrees from the two institutions. Students not participating in the dual degree program will receive a Ph.D. (Pharmacy) in only one degree. Costs of students participating in the dual degree program are specified in the Agreement for Double Doctoral Degree Program between the Faculty of Pharmacy, Chiang Mai University and the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chiba University, as described below. Doctor of Philosophy Program in Pharmacy (International Program)


Students from Chiba University selected to study in this program under the Dual Degree Program will be exempted from tuition fees and will receive support for expenses (accommodation, allowance and health insurance) from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Chiang Mai University, during one year of study at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Chiang Mai University. Thai students under the Dual Degree Program will be exempt from the tuition fee and have the opportunity to receive a scholarship for related expenses from the Japanese government during one year of study at Chiba University. All expenses are borne by students participating in the Dual Degree Program, which are not specified in the double degree preparation agreement above, such as international travel expenses, cost of preparing for the trip (passport issuance fees, fees for obtaining a permit to enter the country etc. This three-year course must be completed in no more than six academic years. Qualifications of students 1. Graduated with a master's degree and a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher in the field of pharmacy or equivalent. 2. Have English language proficiency test results according to the criteria set by Chiang Mai University 3. Applicants with qualifications other than the above or international students may be considered for admission individually, especially those who have obtained a master's degree with only a thesis and those with research or professional experience related to the field of study. Graduated with a bachelor's degree or equivalent with very good grades (with a cumulative grade point average of not less than 3.50) or having academic results in the top 25 percent of all students in their fields of study with a certificate from the department, curriculum or the registration office. 2. Have English language proficiency test results according to the criteria set by Chiang Mai University. 3. Applicants with qualifications other than those above or international students may be considered for admission individually, especially those with research or professional experience related to the field of study. Others having the basic knowledge, competency and potential sufficient to conduct a thesis may be considered according to the criteria and at the discretion of the Graduate Program Executive Committee in Pharmacy.


At least two dissertation works, or parts of dissertation work must be published or accepted to publish having the student as the first author in an international journal. One must be listed in ISI, Scopus, IEEE, PubMed or Web of Science database. At least one dissertation work or a part of dissertation work must be presented in an international conference accepted by the field of study. For a student who attends the double degree program, each student must have at least two publications having the student as the first author in an international journal listed in ISI, Scopus, IEEE, PubMed or Web of Science database. At least one publication must have a corresponding author from Faculty of Pharmacy, Chiang Mai University, and at least one publication must have a corresponding author from Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chiba University. At least one dissertation work or a part of dissertation work must be presented in an international conference accepted by the field of study.
