DR. SIR’S EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
INTERVIEWER’S NAME: HARSHADA & RINNI

1) HARSHADA: HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OR CONCEPT FOR THE
BUSINESS AND WHAT WAS MISSION AT THE OUTSET?

Dr.Sir: To be honest, I m not a businessman. I am a technocrat and it was like all
technocrat, we have a passion in life.. so i started more as a R & D lab .. I wanted to
pursue a research in ultrasonic which was my background and wen we started we
wanted to make it small we never wanted to become very big because business
aspects i had very little exposure
And always people caution u that business means that you have to do lot of things
wrong or incorrect so it was a kind of unwanted thing as far as my thinking was
concerned so it was wrong in those days obviously that was prevailed so we started
as a R & D lab and started making ultrasonic transducers which were not made in
those days in India so that was the first kind of venture we began with and the idea
was to serve the industry rather then to make money and remained in focus even
today and even in our company lot of people feel that I am slightly biased towards
ultrasonic NDT because that was the starting point and the starting point is always
close to your heart which remains even today.
I have soft corner for NDT products and people who are working in NDT .

2) RINNI:WE ALL WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR
IN AN EMPLOYEE?

Dr.Sir: I have a great respect for My all our employees, they are part of our family.
Apart from we are working together we share an emotional bond with each and every
person working in the company. Obviously that bond glue all the years but as the
number of employees increases it becomes really difficult to be in touch with
everybody that has become kind of negative or kind of a thorn that I ma not able to
meet everybody whoever is working for us but the bond is very strong as far as what
I am looking for an employee is the same passion that I have for ultrasonic industry I
Expect the same passion passion in each individual’s work and I always believe that
there is not shortcut to success so we have to every employee has to work hard.
Everybody has to be given the same opportunity and everybody has to get organized
because I find that in today’s time we are not able to plan or we are not able to
devote enough thinking in the objective of ours in being here or our aim in life
individual or as well as profession. So if the clarity is there all employees can work
on that road path

3) RINNI:WHAT KIND OF CULTURE YOU WANT THIS ORGANIZATION
TO ADOPT?

Dr.Sir: I believe that every company has its own culture, it is evolved you cannot
dictate the culture. Culture is how the people are working, participate in the different
activities of the company. I believe in the dynamic culture which should be different
then others but it should be our culture and we have to evolve it ourselves and we
have to jointly we make a decision how all we want in our company what kind of
environment we want what kind of flexibility we want .. Continuous Innovation.

4)HARSHADA: AS YOU SAID THAT IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO GO
AND MEET EACH EMPLOYEE SO THAT MANAGERS PLAY AN

IMPORTANT ROLE, SO WHAT KIND OF LEADERSHIP STYLE THE
MANAGERS SHOULD POSSESS TO HANDLE HIS TEAM ?

Dr.Sir: Manager’s is also reason from a rank because of that he is not only trained to
function as a manager but he is also evolving himself as a manager and I believe
everybody has that capability everybody has to bring in different style of working,
we cannot dictate that this should be the style of working. So one thing of our
organization try to do is give lot of flexibility to each individual to groom in his own
way and manager has no exception and Manager’s also perform the same duty at
different level

5) RINNI:WHEN DID YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A SUCCESS AND
WHAT ARE YOUR SUCCESS HABITS?

Dr.Sir: I would not say I am a very successful individual . Success is something we think
that it is final destination but it is not success is part of our path so every moment we
have to be successful we have to be really try to meet our aims and what we call
strategy or we have new strategy every year we try to frame in the company in which
direction we are going and we try to monitor on a daily basis or monthly basis in which
direction we are going by conducting MOMMS, QOMMS, HOMMS so that we remain on
our road path but Success for me is never a destination because each and every minute
we have to learn something new and people who don't learn they die, that's what I
believe in
I always want new things that we should adopt, new technology that we should adopt,
we have to be all the time looking for new innovation in our company, that is the success
according to me, if we are able to to do that over a longer period of time continuously
evolving something new, then I think that that is success for me.

6) RINNI:WHAT PUTS YOU OFF?

Dr.Sir: Very much, I get put off when people dont meet their commitments then it is very
disheartening, if somebody has committed that I will take care of this thing and if he doesn’t
take care then problem arises then I fell bad, that why people don’t meet their
commitment.Why don’t they put in their extra effort in what they had said that I will do it.
That’s the only thing that puts me off.

7) HARSHADA: CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT A PROJECT OR
ACCOMPLISHMENT THAT IS THE MOST THE SIGNIFICANT IN

YOUR CAREER?

Dr.Sir: There are so many projects which we have done over the years that has changed the course
of the direction of the company. It started long back when we first developed Ultrasonic flow
detector that was slightly diff what we were doing as I mentioned earlier we started with
ultrasonic transducers and then flow detector was the first electronic instrument developed by us
ingeniously totally so that was the kind of first break through we got in the market and people
appreciated us our product 100 % ingeniously made and developed in house by us, that was the
first major break through as the beginning is concerned later there were products like ultrasonic
tube sewing machines which was different then our normal plastic welding machines so that
brought a lot of revenue to the company 1 or 2 years during I think late 90’s so that changed the
course of the company that we started making specialized ultrasonic welding machines thereafter.

8) RINNI:WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE TIME WHEN THINGS DINT
GO THE WAY YOU WANTED OR THE PROJECT THAT DINT TURN OUT

THE WAY YOU WANTED IT OR HOPED FOR IT?

Dr.Sir : Quite a few projects that are closer to my heart but yet not taken off the way we wanted it.
So there’s one of this project Metal welding Machine we sell that few machines but the potential is
very large and somehow we our sales or our marketing team is not been able to get into right
industry for those applications for which we could have done better
There is also another product like Sonoscreen. Sonoscreen is a very popular product, it has been
right from the beginning, from 25 years that product is there but we did not sell many more
machine until recently so last couple of years we are doing good in that but first 15 years we
struggled that is also kind of bottleneck or obstacles in our overall growth.

9) HARSHADA: SO THIS WERE THE PROJECTS THAT YOU THOUGHT
IT WOULD DO A BETTER MARKET?

Dr.Sir: Yes, had we done better with this machines we would had been in a better position today.

10) HARSHADA: IF I ASK YOU TO GIVE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE TO
ANYBODY WHO IS STARTING OR RELATED TO THIS PROJECT,

WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Dr.Sir: The one thing is that whatever u believe in go after that, do what you believe in and don’t bother
about what others say just do it

11) RINNI: SIR, HOW DO YOU WAKE UP EACH MORNING LIKE WHAT
ARE YOUR THOUGHTS EACH MORNING WHEN YOU WAKE UP, WHAT

ARE THE THINGS IN YOUR MIND, LIKE WHEN YOU WAKE UP LIKE I
WANT TO ACHIEVE THIS TODAY?

Dr.Sir: I wake up at 4am everyday which most you wouldn’t be aware when most of you are
asleep. I consider this time of 4-9 am I give exclusively to myself, that is the time I am creative, I
put lot of efforts on myself and I do bit of yoga, then meditation, some physical exercise and also
one hour of doing nothing just being with myself but every person who wants to awake in life most
of us feel that we are awake but we are not awake but we are in sleep awaken is different when
you are every moment aware of the presence that is kind of awake that is the kind of consciousness
we are looking for, that can only happen when you put in efforts you exercise, lot of people go to
gym today But gym is physical exercise not mental exercise you need mental exercise also, physical
exercise is also imp bit without mental exercise physical exercise can only give you physical health
but cannot take you to higher level of your existence.
Higher level of existence can come only with your mind control because your mind keeps on
wandering every minute and that is the sleep that we are doesn’t allow us to be where we are and
we really want to evolve ourselves and that is the purpose of life and we have forgotten the
purpose of life. We are here just passing time but if you want to evolve then that can happen only
by doing mental exercise by doing yoga, meditation.

12) RINNI: BEING EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY..

Dr.Sir:Yes, being emotionally healthy, EQ!!.

13) HARSHADA: WHICH PERSONALITIES YOU BELIEVE ARE THE MOST
INFLUENTIAL?

Dr.Sir: Any success cannot come without external help and external help can be in the form of a friend,
a teacher your father’s friend In my life there are quite a few people who have contributed at a
different level, obviously the first person who influenced is my father himself, he was very towering
personality and I learned lot of things from him but the man who really made a big difference is his
close friend, he was pious person, he was man of integrity, he was a man of commitment so lot of my
qualities I have taken from him, to be good all the time, to be honest irrespective of the punishment
that you are going to get be ready for that all the time, you don’t compromise on your principles.
In the official line Shiv Khera is my guru, we have worked together for many years. He is my
inspiration, he is a good speaker, he is a good individual so one day I aspire to be like him. So he is the
kind of role model he is for me, then also spiritual people like Shri Shri Ravi Shankar who has
contributed spiritually in my life. So I don’t know whether you know there is Rishi Prabhakar, he is from
Siddh Samadhi yoga, who passed away couple of years ago, so these are the people who really
changed the course of my inner life and I am grateful to all of them and obviously My family has
always been my tremendous support, My daughter, My Son, My Wife, My Parents have always they
have been with me all the time.

14) HARSHADA:SO YOU THERE SHOULD BE A GURU IN EVERYONE'S
LIFE TO TEACH YOU SOMETHING.

Dr.Sir: Guru is one does not teach you but in his presence you learn something so
whenever the real learning happens in life is our real Guru irrespective of age. Age
has nothing to do with the learning which happens within.

15) RINNI: SO YOU KEEP ON LEARNING EVERYDAY..

Dr.Sir: Some people influence you much more, they change the course of your life the
direction you were going somewhere and suddenly the directionis complete opposite
to what you have been doing.

16) HARSHADA: SIR, ANY QUESTIONS FOR US?

Dr.Sir: No, there is no question, I always share whatever I have and I always consider my privilege &
honour to share the experience what I have to all the people in the company and outside, I always
teach one thing Be yourself, Be Natural you dont have to really prove your point or like somebody. Just
be yourself that my message to everybody because that is when we are the best because God is within
us that we have to recognise. We are looking outside theres is nothing outside, God is beautiful.
