Waste Services 27th Avenue Composting Facility

Location: Phoenix, Arizona Arrington Watkins was selected by the City of Phoenix
to design a composting facility within the 27th Avenue
Facility Type: Composting Facility City Complex. The design includes a future anaerobic
digestion (AD) system. Current composting technology
Project Owner: City of Phoenix and the latest composting equipment is planned

Construction Cost: $16,000,000 The City set a goal of 40% waste reduction from
landfills by 2020, which is part of a larger city
Completion Date: April 2017 sustainability goal to achieve zero waste by 2050.
When completed, the Compost Facility will be capable
Site Area: 27 acres of processing up to 110,000 tons of green and
food waste per year, resulting in an estimated 11%
reduction of waste being sent to the city landfills. The
city plans to implement a second phase to the facility,
which will allow it to double its composting program
from 110,000 tons per year to 220,000.

Public Works/ Municipal Landfill Facilities Improvement

Phase II: Scale House: 784 SF. Features: two
inbound scales, including one equipped with high-tech
attendant-free wireless weighing software systems and
two outbound scales (one bi-directional scale and one
multi-axle vehicle scale) with drive-up service windows,
a digital scale system, traffic lights and automatic gates
to accommodate large volumes of customers.

Phase III: Equipment Maintenance Building:
5,249 SF. prefab, covered and enclosed specially
designed to accommodate CAT Compactors and track
vehicles. Features two heavy duty equipment work
bays with steel-plate approaches and four overhead
retractable entry/exit doors, an exterior wash-down
area, large tool and storage areas, an overhead
crane for large heavy equipment maintenance and an
external recycled fluids storage/extraction area.

Waste Services Arizona Community Ecocenter

Location: Surprise, Arizona The Arizona Community Ecocenter is a state-of-the-art
recycling facility recently designed and built by the

Waste Services Hummingbird Energy Biogester Master Plan

Location: Tempe, Arizona Arrington Watkins provided pre-deisgn, concept

Location: Spokane, Washington Arrington Watkins teamed with Gilbane Construction
to provide the design and construction of a new

Location: Glendale, Arizona Arrington Watkins was selected to re-evaluate an
existing needs assessment and master plan, produce
