KEIGHLEY R.U.F.C. SEASON 2021-2022
   From the Chairman
Good afternoon everyone & Welcome to Keighley RUFC.
Well, it seems like an age since we all met at a Rugby Match down here at Keighley. All rugby activity was put on hold from
14th March 2020 pretty much straight after our “Long Haul” to the East Coast to play Bridlington. The Covid-19 Pandemic
has hit everyone to a varying degree over the last 18 Months and I would like to send out a message of support on behalf of
Keighley RUFC to all families near and far who have lost loved ones or suffered during this pandemic. It has been a difficult
18 months but thanks to the efforts of our NHS the British People are predominantly now vaccinated and able to move into
   a period of restricted normality.
As most of you will have seen we have not sat on our laurels during “Lockdown” and when you enter the Club gates you
will see massive change to our outside facilities. The drive and Car Park have been repaired, the Pitches & grounds look
exceptional and are being maintained to a particularly high standard, we are ¾ of the way through work on our new “Terrace”
with seating for 128 guests. Our terrace will be partly open for our 1st Game, and we are certain this addition will add to the
already positive experience when visiting Keighley RUFC.
Inside the Clubhouse & Changing Rooms there has been further extensive refurbishment which has developed our
Clubhouse into a bright, modern facility all our members can use and be proud of and our 1st Team Changing Room & Gym
now resembles something you would see many Leagues above ours. Most of the work has been completed by the Members
and we have had a huge & fantastic financial response from everyone involved in the Club. Due to this response, we have
emerged from the Pandemic in a much stronger position both from a facilities perspective and a financial one.
So, onto the 2021- 2022 season.
As you will all be aware we were relegated from Yorkshire 1 after the slightly shortened 2020 season ended and will now ply
our trade in Yorkshire 2, at times a tough and uncompromising level of rugby which I am sure we will adapt to and hopefully
gain promotion at the first attempt.
Thankfully we have retained all our coaching staff and team managers across our 3 Senior Teams, and I would just like to
thank them all for their knowhow, dedication and the hard work they have all put in during the last 18 months and I am sure
this will pay dividends during the coming season.
Our Junior Section continues to be successful with 180+ players of both sexes attending training when safe and able during
the Covid period. These young Children are our life blood for the future of our Senior Teams and keeping them happy,
available and safe is paramount. Thanks to all our Junior Volunteer Coaches, Managers & Committee for their dedication
   to our cause.
From a team perspective we have fortunately again retained the majority of our 2019-2020 Season squad and our Co-
captains Shaun & Adam remain in place for the 2012-2022 season to come. We have also had several new arrivals to add
to our very strong squad throughout the Club. These additions will clearly help the reach the goals we have set ourselves as
well as importantly assisting our 2nd & 3rd Teams to put out competitive squads every week.
Our planned Centenary season was a washout due to the Pandemic hitting one week prior to our launch on the 21st of
March 2020. Not to worry however we will celebrate our long-awaited Centenary after 101 years. All the postponed events
have been moved into the coming year. Please keep your eyes open around the Club and on our social media platforms for
further information. Your attendance to these events is imperative.
Finally, we can’t leave a message like this without again thanking our many volunteers and benefactors here at our wonderful
club. Without your help, assistance and dedication this great club would not be the place it is today.
THANK YOU one and all!! Graeme Sheffield Chairman Keighley RUFC
