GEEC 1052 MADAM SUMATI
my
childhood
memories
Directed by MUHAMMAD SYAHMI
Children are taught to grow up using electronics such as
smartphones, tablets, computers, laptops, and other devices in this era
of advancement. Most children today also do not have time to feel the
amusing and funny memories of childhood because they are busy with
gadgets. In fact, these memories have given many experiences and
lessons to our lives. Same goes to me, I have many childhood memories
that will be my life history to tell to my children and grandchildren so
that they too can feel the excitement I have felt all this time.
First of my favourite memory is when I was 7 years old, I was
always looking for an excuse not to go to school just to watch cartoons at
home. Every Thursday, my and my friends' favourite cartoons will be
shown in television. Among my favorite cartoons include Upin-Ipin,
Transformer, Handy Many, Pheneas and Ferb, Sinchan and others.I
always told my parents that I was having stomach aches and dizziness so
I got permission not to go to school. I’m happy because I can watch my
favorite cartoons if I manage to use those tricks. However, if I think back,
even though the memories are fun but I have cheated on my parents
and this habit is not good for a student like me.

Next, i still remember my favourite childhood memory when my
cousins and i went fishing on the river. Every rainy season, we would
spend the weekend looking for worms and frogs to be bait while fishing.
There are many types of fish that we have fished such as catfish, haruan
and puyu. We were very happy to enjoy the beautiful view of the river
while waiting for the fish to eat the bait. Suddenly, my rod moved
violently. My cousin helped me pull the rod. We fell while pulling the rod
and looked at each other while laughing out loud. Despite the pain of
falling, I felt very happy to get a big fish. That afternoon, we managed to
catch eight fish. At dusk, we went home. Mom has cooked fish curry for
us as a family. I felt happy that day because it had expanded my life
experience.
During my childhood, I was very active playing traditional games
with my beloved friends. It was tough. The memories of my childhood
games are very special in my life. . I played traditional games such as
“teng-teng”, “batu seremban”, “wau” and others. It's always fresh and
blooming in the shadows of the mind so that sometimes it makes me
want to go back to the past. If only time could go back, I want to repeat
this unforgettable memories.

On the other old good day, I always found that playing outside
my house was thrilling rather than playing inside my house. Specifically,
I liked to meet my childhood friends, which were also my closest
relatives. When we were all together, everyone had a great time playing
around. There was a moment when it was a fruit season in my village
and there was a shady mangosteen tree behind my house. I climbed up
the tree to pluck one of those ripped mangosteen without having
second thoughts of ‘kain pelikat’ that I was wearing. My buddies watched
me enthusiastically under the tree while the elders spectated us from
far. I took each steps very careful, but somehow I felt a stingy bite on my
foot. The pain made me jump so quick and I was ready to fall from the
tree resignedly. Before I could feel the impact, my ‘kain pelekat’ turned
into a parachute and saved me. My buddies quickly helped me after I
fell, laying on the ground. On the other side, the elders laughed happily
as they enjoyed watching us putting up a show for them.
Overall, I am happy recalling childhood memories. Sometimes,
it could be fun, it could be mess and it could cringy. For some reasons, I
would love to thank my parents, my siblings, my childhood friends and
whoever I used to be with in the past. They made my life better as I
could potray my childhood memories clearly and nicely.
