Welcome Speech by Excellent Principal of Tuanku Jaafar Science School 4 Alhamdulillah, praise be and thanks to Allah s.w.t., because of His Will, we continue to be blessed by His Grace for being able to attend this International Cooperation Program for Education and Digital Technology between Tuanku Jaafar Secondary School of Science, known as SMSTJ in Negeri Sembilan, and Suankularb Wittayalai Nontaburi Province of Thailand. First of all, on behalf of Tuanku Jaafar Science School, I would like to express my gratitude to Madam Kanyanisa Asawatrongpon, Deputy Director of Suankularb Wittayalai Nontaburi Province Thailand, for accepting our invitation to join us in this program. Your presence today will definitely inspire both educators and students in this school to raise the dignity of the world of education to produce excellent human capital. “As technology changes the way we communicate, connect, create, consume and innovate, it is democratizing access to opportunity. Education is no exception.” The objectives of this meeting are to establish a relationship between our schools, as well as to introduce the advantages of SMSTJ as a digital school. Besides that, we want to share about the use of Didik Digital and e-Wallet applications. The quote above has become part of an inspiration in the aspect of education and technology to foster brilliance among today’s youth. To promote such excellence, we must first embrace the fact that we now live in an era of digitalization, and to make use of technology in tandem of today’s trends. In this case, SMSTJ has become one of the leading schools in terms of educational digitalization in Malaysia.
5 With a capacity of six hundred and seventy-seven (677) students, sixty-three (63) teachers, and twenty-five (25) officers, SMSTJ has persevered, and still does, in order to produce an abundance of excellence throughout the years. Now with more than fifty years since its establishment in 1973, we hope to continue our successes in the coming years. The world around us is dependent on technology. Compared to a decade ago, today’s generation is more attuned with gadgets, and it is now time to familiarize ourselves with them, too. As we all know, physical wallets have become a necessity to carry our finances. Today’s technology has simplified such labor in the form of accounts accessible by cards and mobile applications. Our e-Wallet application has connected us with numerous accessibilities related to our school, such as our students’ academic and co-curricular achievements. Not only that, we also allow our teachers to use such accessibilities in order to gauge our students’ level of performance as well as monitor their achievements, not to mention, we can also use e-Wallet as a form of payment for everything in our school. In short, e-Wallet has become an invaluable asset that defines our school to ease the application of education. Another notable notch within our school is the use of e-RPH, our digitalized lesson planning in the form of Google Sheets. No longer do we use physical files to document our teachers’ lessons, we are also able to access them through the use of Google Drive. Every single activity we do in this school, we have a way to document them so they can be accessed any time. Reports and data analyses are generated using these digitally documented information, and in a way, they ease our teachers in terms of physical workload. We have encouraged our educators to use them, and in the future, we will continue to do so in order to produce a more conducive and technologicalfriendly space for both teachers and students. Our media application and execution in lessons and co-curricular activities are done by using the Green Room and Bilik Abad 21—the former in which we use to produce accessible educational materials that every person can watch and learn from, and the latter is to carry out and promote digitalized materials to enhance activities. We also have two ICT laboratories with working stations that our students can access with consent from their teachers, and we have a specialized team of students who are adept and skilled in handling the commodities provided, including a set of drones.
6 We have achieved a number of successes: our school’s Drone Team represented the state of Negeri Sembilan during the National Junior Skills Malaysia in 2023, as the only Full Boarding School in the country to do so, against 11 other secondary schools around the country. One of our students was also champion of the Drone Challenge, namely the e-Sports Drone Operating System, during the National STEM Carnival in 2022, in which he represented the school for the nation. Last year, we received delegates from SMP Muhammadiyah Three (3), from Yogyakarta, Indonesia, with which we have achieved a partnership with, in regards to ICT and e-Wallet management. We have also acquired the same partnerships with four other boarding schools within the district, and we are looking forward to secure the same with your school. These are only a few of the successes that we have achieved insofar as we could name, and with your cooperation in this program, we believe we will be able to achieve more in the future, for both our benefits. Both our countries are in need of youths capable to lead and improve our nations, and our school believes that by improving technology and education between our countries, we may be able to reach that outcome, and possibly more. I would like to take this opportunity to once again, extend my gratitude for your willingness to take part in this partnership, and to everyone involved to make this Program a success. I would also like to express my thanks to those wo are involved that have done their best to ensure this Program run smoothly, and we hope to be able to maintain this relationship for the future of our youths. Lastly, I would like to express my sincere apologies for any difficulties that we may have caused throughout your stay here. Hopefully, this Program will help us to reach our respective and collaborative goals.
