New Forest strawberries are available from Harvest Fine Foods
almost all year round. Our grower starts harvesting from the end of
March, continuing right through until the end of December.

Strawberries need to remain on the plant to fully ripen because
unlike other fruits they do not continue to ripen after being picked.

One serving of about eight strawberries provides more vitamin C
than an orange. The strawberry is also a good source of folate and
potassium, dietary fibre and manganese.

Russia is the world’s largest commercial raspberry growing nation,
producing 26% of all fruit. The UK comes in 7th place with 3%.

Roughly 27,000 kilos of strawberries are eaten during the
Wimbledon Championships, together with 7,000 litres of cream.

Strawberry and raspberry plants are both members of the rose
family. Both are technically a “false fruit” - the true fruits are the
individual seeds found on the outer surface.

Method As each pancake finishes Ingredients
