OCS STANDARD When manufacturing garments of JAMES & NICHOLSON by Daiber, the Organic Content Standard is a standard for verifying and tracking the exact content of organically grown materials in a final product. PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT All the products of JAMES & NICHOLSON by Daiber are produced in an environmentally friendly way. Amfori Bepi By becoming a member of amfori BEPI (Business-Environmental Performance Initiative), we can significantly improve the environmental sustainability of our supply chains. We are going to initiate the introduction process with the suppliers who are strategically the most important to us. To start off with, these suppliers will carry out the amfori BEPI self-assessment, which leads to new approaches to implement measures to improve environmental protection. This is because the starting points for improved product responsibility can only be worked out with our long-term suppliers and implemented in a targeted manner once a critical analysis has been performed. by APPROVED It is important to James & Nicholson to sensibly process raw materials that have already been used instead of always entering new ones into the production cycle. In this way, environmental pollution can be reduced and unnecessary waste can be avoided. Therefore, with the majority of their new workwear collection, the two brands use recycled polyester, which is reclaimed from plastic bottles. The bottles are cleaned, melted and spun into yarn. For example, the workwear trousers JN1812 contain PET bottles - and organic cotton. A classic example of 100% sustainable fabric as well as 100% function. Jacket, T-shirt / polo shirt or pants: All the items made of or containing recycled polyester are as high-quality, breathable and hard-wearing as the previous ones. Both the yarn production and the adherence to the quality standards are regularly checked by the independent laboratory LABTECH. Recyled polyester can be found on the following pages: 40, 44, 46, 50, 52, 54, 56, 108, 109, 199, 221 and 222. 7
UVB UVA COMING TO GRIPS WITH THE SUN THANKS TO WORKWEAR WITH CERTIFIED UV-PROTECTION Many professions are practised outdoors all day or part of the day. Most of the year people working outdoors are exposed directly or indirectly to the sun. Therefore, their risk of contracting skin cancer is much higher than that of people working indoors. 8
ID120866 UV-CLOTHING PROVIDES BETTER PROTECTION THAN SUNSCREEN The best protection against harmful UV-radiation is provided by certified UV-protective clothing. It shields off radiation, does not have to be applied once again like sunscreen and therefore lasts all day. For the parts of the body uncovered by clothes sunscreen with a high sun protection factor and a headgear should be used. THE MORE UPF, THE BETTER The UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) indicated on UVprotective clothing shows how much longer somebody wearing these clothes can stay in the sun without suffering any damage to health. Therefore, the UPF-indication on textiles corresponds to the sun protection factor of sun-screens. This is based on the self-protection time of the skin, which varies considerably depending on the individual skin type. A product marked with UPF 50+ according to this standard blocks more than 98% of the harmful UV-rays. TESTED TEXTILE UV-PROTECTION Our products are manufactured and checked according to the strictest standard (Australia) for textiles with UV-protection. CORDURA® CORDURA® is a very sturdy, textured polyamide fabric, which is extremely tear- and abrasion-proof. Special yarns, specially developed weaving techniques, dyeing methods and additional textile finishing ensure that products with CORDURA® can be used as durable and comfortable workwear. 3M™ Scotchlite™ REFLECTIVE FABRIC The reflective fabric enhances the visibility at night or in poor lighting conditions. (without protective function/no PPE). SOFTSHELL Softshell with TPU membrane consists of three layers. Due to the microporous TPU membrane as middle layer the material is water-proof, wind-proof and breathable at the same time. easy care This special finish makes shirts and blouses especially easy to iron.
