Here is Tip 22, 23 and 24 –
a few more pointers on STAFF ENGAGEMENT.
22. BE STINGY WITH MEETINGS
If workers are constantly in meetings, they’ll fee
disconnected from their regular assignments
because they don’t get enough uninterrupted time
to concentrate on those tasks. Before you call a
formal meeting, be sure it’s really needed. It’s
equally important to keep these meetings brief and
to the point.
23. GET OUT OF THE OFFICE
Whenever possible hold training events,
celebrations or similar activities off-site. A change
of scenery can provide a break from routine and
reconnect the staff. Allow for social time in the
agenda. It can help enhance the spirit of teamwork.
24. RECOGNIZE LOW MORALE
Many companies become aware of trouble with
motivation and morale only when the problem
reaches a tipping point. So be alert to the early
symptoms: rise in absenteeism, complaints about
customer service, poor performance or increased
conflicts between team members.

NEW! Manager to Manager!
Designated Manager Time Together
Sherri Sportsman was just appointed by the Board of
Directors to fill the Program Chair board vacancy for the
remainder of the year. Sherrie attended the round table
and heard many manager comments …. and went right
into action.
“The round table meeting on May 9 was a great chance
to visit and meet other members,” Sherri said. “Our
discussions were great, and I think every person gave
input through out the meeting. Designated time for
managers to talk with other managers is important. They
don't have a chance to meet other managers or even
know who is a manager and who is a business partner.”
After the meeting, the Board discussed these comments
and agreed on the following change:
Manager to Manager! starts at 11:00am and meets for
about 15 minutes in a group to get to know one another,
interact together, and get the support some may need
from each other. A designated table will be available for
managers to gather. Then managers will leave the table,
get lunch and include all members no later than
11:20am.
This new offering starts in June! Managers will
interface together at 11:00am at every monthly
meeting of MGMA-NWMO going forward.
Manger to Manager starts at the June 13
meeting at Liberty Hospital Education Center.
