MINUTES OF SECOND ENGLISH LANGUAGE PANEL MEETING 2020

1.0 OPENING SPEECH BY: Madam Gowri a/p Mottaiya (Head of English Panel)

1.1. Welcoming speech by the Head of English Panel, Pn Gowri a/p Mottaiya.
Pn Gowri thanked the panel members for their attendance.

2.0 PROPOSAL AND PASSING OF THE FIRST MEETING MINUTES
2.1. Pn. Siti Asiah proposed the passing of the previous meeting minutes
It was seconded by Pn Suganah and agreed by all members.

3.0 MATTERS ARISING
3.1. PCG ALLOCATION for 2020
3.1.1 The PCG allocation for 2020 has been utilized partially.
3.1.2 Some of the items bought are CEFR Teacher’s Guide for Year 2 and 3
and two portable speakers.
3.2 English Month activities were carried out successfully as planned and prizes
were awarded to the winners.

4.0 NEW ISSUES

4.1. TEACHING AND LEARNING DURING MCO
4.1.1 All English teachers are using Google Classroom as their platform to
give exercises and worksheets to their respective classes and pupils.
4.1.2 Other than that, Whatsapp plays an important role in relating the
information about the exercises to parents and to remind pupils to
complete the tasks given to them.
4.1.3 Teachers are using Google Forms, Quizziz, Google Docs, Google
Slides, videos, YouTube and materials they create on their own.
4.1.4 Other than that, teachers also opt to use materials they obtain from
English teachers' groups from other states as some of the materials are
complete with videos, materials and worksheets. Examples are copying
sample essays in their writing books, answering comprehension
questions, listening to videos and answering questions, passages and
texts from textbook, writing sentences, fill in blanks and rewriting.

4.2 PBD
4.2.1 Teachers can provide exercises and materials according to skills so that
bands can be awarded
4.2.2 Teachers are required to record the pupils’ details in their Rekod Transit
/PBD forms.
4.2.3 Teachers are advised to take note of which pupils have handed in their
work and have been graded accordingly so it will be easier for teachers
to trace pupils who are not graded yet.

4.3 PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITY (PLC)
4.3.1 For the first term, teachers in-charge for PLC are Pn Gowri and
Pn Siti Asiah.
4.3.2 Teachers can decide on the aspect they want to carry out PLC and
discuss with other teachers using Google Meet or any online
applications.
4.3.3 The teachers in-charge has to make sure photos are taken and reports
are done accordingly.

4.4 ENGLISH CARNIVAL 2020
4.4.1 Madam Gowri thanked the teachers for training the pupils for
Storytelling, Poetry Recitation, Public Speaking and Action Song
competitions.
4.4.2 Whether the competitions will be held or not will be informed on a later
date.

5.0 OTHER MATTERS
5.1 Teachers are advised to keep and file the pupils’ evidence accordingly for future
references.
5.2 Madam Gowri reminded the teachers not to give up during this trial period and
try their best to provide and continue educating the pupils as much as they can.

6.0 CLOSURE

6.1 The Head of English Panel hopes all the teacher will take necessary action on
matters discussed in the meeting.
