Its February, and it’s the Heart’s month. There are many occasions in February but the month is better known for Valentine’s Day. There were several versions in the origin of the celebration. References were found in the old books, poems, and children’s rhymes. Let me quote an ancient one, and I hope you will rhyme with me: “The rose is red, the violet’s blue, The honey’s sweet, and so are you. Thou art my love and I am thine; I drew thee to my Valentine: The lot was cast and then I drew, And Fortune said it should be you.” The rhyme was part of a collection published in 1784, but its root was from 1594. Although it was several centuries old, it can still paint the Valentine celebration this 2024. The passion illustrated in this rhyme is not diminished with the passage of time. One can draw similarities with the objectives of PSME. Our founders in 1952, penned the objectives of PSME. Our Society experienced its challenges through the years, there were ups and downs, success and lessons learned but the objectives then remain true until today. Our love and loyalty to our beloved PSME is stated in a concise manner in the last line of PSME Creed: “Have resolved to unite to accomplish these aims by constituting a national organization of Mechanical Engineers. ”May our love for PSME, and stories inside this February issue refresh your passion with our beloved PSME! MESSAGE OF THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT Dear Members Issue 2 | Volume 1 | FEBRUARY 2024 Sincerely, Jeremy T. Aguinea PSME National President Page 2
