Faith Builder Meeting
December 8, 2020
THANKS Thrivent
and Welcome
Tim Benner
We know volunteers and churches sign up with Habitat for one of these two motivations:
1. They want to do a particular TASK
2. They pick a date and stick to it no matter the task.
As you think about your church, what would work better?
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
I’m not at all certain of this schedule, but I’m very
confident in it! Does that make sense?
February, March, 2021 Crews to do some training (if we can maintain social distance, etc)
As soon as the ground thaws (April) Excavation Starts
As soon after that as possible (end of April) Kleese Construction begins framing
Mid-June Volunteers On Site
November 30, 2021 DEDICATION OF FOUR NEW HOMES
• We anticipate working only on Saturday’s with Church groups.
• If a church wants a week day evening we will accommodate that.
• We anticipate progress in each unit to be simultaneous… meaning when we start drywall we will have drywall crews in
each of the four units on the same day.
Unit 1 Unit 2 Unit 3 Unit 4
Drywall Crew Drywall Crew Drywall Crew Drywall Crew
(six people) (six people) (six people) (six people)
• On any given Saturday we will have 24 people (plus crew leaders). We are hopeful that six people in each unit can
maintain social distance if still necessary.
What can you be doing now to prepare in your congregations?
1. Encourage people to sign up for our 365 Days of Prayer
2. Sign up for Saturday’s!!
• There are 22 Saturday’s
• There are 88 slots for six people each
• We have 12 churches represented on this call. We are hopeful we’ll have 20
churches engaged.
• If each church could sign up for at least four work days we’re almost there!
3. Generosity Challenge – Thrivent’s grant of $115K needs to be matched. We
already have 20K from St. John’s!
4. FOOD! We will want to provide food for each of these work days. We will
work out the details but if you’ve got meal providers (or coordinators) send their
names to Jodi.
5. Get this information in your bulletins/newsletters. Jodi “pushes” out info to
church secretaries – you can help make sure this info gets in your
communications!
6. Invite Habitat staff to speak to your worship or committee meetings (virtually
or in person).
7. If you know someone who should apply – connect with Cheri!
I have come so that you may have life… life to the
full. John 10:10
Life to the full means…
Having a safe place to live. A place where your children
can play in the yard. A space they’re proud to invite
their friends. Not worrying about rising rent prices or
where you’re going to live next month. Life to the full
means… being part of a community where people
work together – partner families and volunteers – to
provide simple, decent and affordable housing.
