BUILDING ELEMENTS
| What are Centrepoint 3D Panels?
Steel Reinforced Concrete Panels
Centrepoint 3D panels consist of a polystyrene sheet assembled together with welded
wire mesh. These panels can be customised to varying thickness, length and density of
the polystyrene core as well as the diameter of the mesh and the number of connectors
between the mats. They are integrated with traditional reinforced concrete structures such
as wall cladding, partition walls and floors. The panels completed with shotcrete becomes
the structural element of the construction. The profile of the polystyrene panel and the
vertical wires of the mesh mats form micro-piles of reinforced concrete, distributing the
weight of the structure around the entire perimeter.
| What are the benefits?
SAFER | STRONGER | FASTER | ECONOMICAL
• Stronger structure
• Weather proof - safe from harsh winds, cyclones and earthquakes
• Increased energy savings: better thermal insulation - HVAC system size
is reduced, saving 50-80% on heating and cooling costs
• Fire, insect, termite, rodent, mold, and mildew resistant
• Better sound insulation
• 20 -30% faster construction speed saving labour costs.
• Eco friendly - insulation core is free from chlorofluorocarbons which
destroy the ozone layer.
| What are the options?
1 - SINGLE PANEL
This panel consists of a sheet of polystyrene sandwiched
between two mats of welded wire mesh.
The polystyrene sheet can be shaped as required
and the thickness can vary according to needs.
The Single Panel can be used for the construction
of single and multistory buildings according to the
local building regulations.
2 - DOUBLE PANEL
This panel consists of two single panels joined together
with an intermediate cavity. The thickness of the
polystyrene and the width of the cavity can be varied
according to the performance required. The external
faces of the panel are usually finished in plaster.
3 - EVOLUTION PANEL
The panel consists of two mesh mats which
incorporate a spacer to ensure that there is no
contact between the polystyrene sheet
and the steel reinforcement.
4 - FLOOR/ROOF PANEL
This panel is used for the construction
of floors and roofs. The thickness and
geometry of the panel can be varied
according to the span and project
requirements. The placement of the
reinforcement and the concrete pour
can be made totally on site or partially
in the production plant.
| What is the installation process?
INSTALLATION AND CONSTRUCTION PHASES
1 - INSTALLATION OF REBAR ANCHORS
Anchor bars are normally inserted before the pouring of
the foundation. Alternatively it is possible to drill holes
in the existing slab and then anchor the bars with an
approved system.
2 - INSTALLATION OF THE PANEL
Thanks to their lightweight, a single operator can easily lift
and place the panel s wher e r equir ed. This is another factor
that contr ibutes to the labor s avings of the S chnell
System compared to traditional techniques.
3 - POST INSTALLATION
Immediately after the placement of the panels, the perfect
linearity and verticality of the walls is checked and ensured.
4 - PREPARATION FOR ELECTRICAL
AND PLUMBING
A hot-air gun or torch is used to create channels in the
polystyrene for the placement of switch boxes, electrical
conduits, cables, pipes, etc.
5 - INSTALLATION OF THE FLOOR PANEL
Once the floor panels are placed, supported by the walls and
from below, any necessary additional steel reinforcement is
installed and the concrete is poured.
6 - APPLICATION OF SHOTCRETE
Both sides of the walls of the Single Panel are sprayed with
shotcrete and subsequently finished with plaster.
