INTRODUCTION

CEILING DESIGN

Ceiling, is the overhead surface or surfaces covering a
room, and the underside of a floor or a roof.

Ceilings are often used to hide floor and roof construction.

TYPES OF CEILING DESIGN

• Conventional Ceiling. A conventional ceiling construction type is commonly
found in homes. ...

• Suspended Ceiling. ...
• Coffered Ceiling. ...
• Tray Ceiling. ...
• Coved Ceiling. ...
• Cathedral Ceiling. ...
• Shed Ceiling. ...
• Beam Ceiling
• Wooden Ceiling

CONVENTIONAL CEILING

• A conventional ceiling construction
type is commonly found in homes.
These ceilings have a standard
drywall finish and are made of
lower-cost materials, requiring easy
installation.

• Conventional ceilings are plain and
flat – and are usually between 8 to 9
feet high and can fit with typical
construction material sizing.

SUSPENDED CEILING

• A suspended ceiling (sometimes
referred to as a dropped ceiling)
hangs from a metal grid below the
existing ceiling that is already in
place.

• Commonly used with noise-
regulating acoustic ceiling tiles,
these flat drop ceilings allow
designers to conceal mechanical,
electrical, plumbing, and lighting
fixtures (MEP) above the dropped,
exposed ceiling, such as pipes and
wiring.

COFFERED CEILING

• Commonly found in high-end
homes, churches, libraries, and
hotels, coffered ceilings reflect
a classic, even luxurious,
aesthetic. A pricier option than
conventional options, coffered
ceilings require installation by
specialists who are familiar
with this variety.

TRAY CEILING

• Tray ceilings are multi-level
ceilings – they start from one
height, then drop as you add
levels. As the name suggests,
the ceiling layout resembles a
tray.

• The flat ceiling on the outside
of the tray surrounds the raised
center, which is the highest
part of the ceiling.

COVED CEILING

• A coved ceiling is typically
found in formal rooms,
theaters, or churches. The
Vatican, for example,
houses one of the most
famous coved ceilings in
the world .

CATHEDRAL CEILING

• Cathedral ceilings are often
found in large living rooms,
dining rooms, bedrooms,
and even the master bath.

• Cathedral – or vaulted –
ceilings are known for their
inverted V-shape where the
tip of the V is the highest
point and the sides of the V
slope down.

SHED CEILING

• Shed, or single-slope,
ceilings are typically found
on the top story of a home,
either in the attic or loft.

• Creating a distinct look for
your room, a shed ceiling
will begin at a high point at
one wall, then slope down
toward the opposite wall.

BEAM CEILING

• Beam ceilings are typically
found in hallways and corridors
for commercial settings and
living and dining rooms for
residential settings.

• Though considered as a
contemporary style, it’s actually
a traditional ceiling form. Made
primarily from hardwoods
or Douglas fir, beams give
homes a classic, rustic look.

WOODEN CEILING

• They are very easy to install: wood
ceilings usually consist of wood
panels with the characteristics
you want, which are then joined
together with standard
commercial false ceiling systems
(T-15 and T-24 profiles). This
format in wood panels also allows
for easy, convenient transport.

WHICH IS BEST FOR CEILING
DESIGN?

• If you are someone who is very particular about designs, then gypsum
ceilings are the best option for you. Gypsum boards are flexible. So,
whatever the design you want for your living room, bedroom or any
other room, no matter how intricate, it's possible to create it using
gypsum.

WHICH CEILING IS BEST FOR ROOF?

• Plaster of Paris (POP) is among the most popular materials used in a
variety of commercial as well as residential roofing applications. POP is
basically gypsum sans its water content (created by heating gypsum to
a temperature when water evaporates) available in powdered form.

• POP or Plaster of Paris is a commonly used material used to make
false ceiling, accent decors and wall trims. POP is a quick-setting
white powder made of semi-dehydrated gypsum. This lightweight and
heat-resistant material is mixed at the site and makes for a stunning
POP design for ceilings.16-Feb-2021

WHAT IS PVC CEILING?

• PVC is a strong lightweight
plastic material that is factory-
manufactured into ceiling
panels of various designs,
colours, sizes and lengths; each
panel has a hollow core and a
smooth, shiny surface.

• PVC wall and ceiling panels are
made of a waterproof
material which makes these
panels highly resistant to water.
