To that end, we offer programming all year round to help kids connect, reflect and grow. In the summer, youth can spend 4-6 weeks with PEAK in summer camps. During the school year, weekend camp retreats and Leadership Labs - our afterschool project-based program - offer important opportunities to enhance relationships and skills in a smaller group setting. I saw how my Emma has taken more responsibility in all her everyday life. She is more aware of other people and more responsible. -Hilda, mom PEAK has helped my kids feel involved in their community, build friendships, and boost their confidence. I admire their staff and organization. -Mariana, mom I would recommend PEAK because it’s a program my child can develop leadership skills from youth through teenage years. -Debbie, mom We encourage and enhance youth’s skills in 8 core leadership competencies that reflect our core beliefs: 1 EVERY LIVING BEING HAS INHERENT VALUE. Skills Practiced: Strengths Focus, Empathy Supporting the interests of a person, group or cause.

If I have submitted my application online, does my child have a spot at camp? NOT YET! Your child’s spot is not secured until we have a submitted application and the required documents. You need to submit insurance information, most recent tetanus shot date, and a completed USDA Household Income form (one per household). Why do I have to submit a deposit for participation? Due to the significant investment of time and resources to provide high quality programming, all families are asked to make a refundable deposit to avoid no shows. Based on family feedback, the deposit is $10 per week ($20 for standard session) of camp. Does PEAK provide transportation? Yes! We provide transportation from Milwaukee to our overnight Resident Camp. For Day Camps, we provide a southside bus stop for families who select that option during registration. Is my teen considered an LT? All participants entering 9th grade in Fall 2024 can apply to the LT program in August. They must apply and be accepted into the program. See SUSO on page 11 for more details. How will we know what to pack for Lake Valley Camp? Your packing list will be attached to your confirmation email once your application is complete. We will have paper copies available for pick up at our office. Is food provided at your camps? Yes! At our Milwaukee-based camps, breakfast, lunch and a snack will be provided every day. At our Lake Valley Camp, we provide all meals and snacks. Unless your child has dietary restrictions, we ask that you do not bring food from home. Will I get to communicate with my child while they are at Lake Valley Camp? We’ve learned that telephone conversations exacerbate homesickness and we don't allow regular phone calls home for our campers. Instead, campers can write letters and parents/guardians can call our main office for an update; we work to respond within 24 hours. Parents/guardians may also send letters or emails to [email protected], which are provided to campers. We also post photos to our Facebook page! Do you have any drop-in programming in Tiefenthaler Park? PEAK@TIEF is PEAK’s park activation initiative that promotes a vibrant, safe and positive park space in Tiefenthaler Park. Daily each summer, we offer free meals, recreational activities, and workshops in the park to build a sense of community in our public green space. Does PEAK offer any programs for schools? Culture Keepers & Leadership Lab, PEAK’s school-based leadership programs, guide students developing and implementing school community improvement projects. Culture Keepers brainstorm ways to improve the school community, create a plan of action and implement projects that use their power to positively impact their school. Let us know if you're interested in bringing Culture Keepers or Leadership Lab to your child's school! How is PEAK managing programs during COVID-19? Safety is our highest priority and we are following CDC Guidelines for COVID-19 prevention. 16 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
