ชุดฝึ กทักษะการอ่านจบั ใจความแต่ละตอนประกอบดว้ ยบทอ่านที่นามาเป็ นแบบฝึ ก
ทกั ษะการอ่านจบั ใจความภาษาองั กฤษ ซ่ึงผจู้ ดั ทาไดร้ วบรวมจากแหล่งเรียนรู้ต่างๆ ไวอ้ ย่างเป็ น
หมวดหมู่ พร้อมท้งั เฉลยทา้ ยแบบฝึกในแต่ละตอน สามารถนามาใชจ้ ดั กิจกรรมการเรียนการสอน
และเป็ นประโยชน์สาหรับการเรียนรู้ด้วยตนเองตามความสนใจของผูเ้ รียน ตลอดจนสามารถ
นาไปใชเ้ ป็นพ้ืนฐานในการแสวงหาความรู้ตอ่ ไป

Reading for Detail : การอ่านเพ่ือจับใจความอย่างละเอยี ด เป็นเทคนิคอยา่ งหน่ึงของ

การอ่านหากผอู้ า่ นสามารถหารายละเอียดไดจ้ ะทาใหผ้ อู้ ่านสามารถหาขอ้ มลู ท่ีตอ้ งการไดซ้ ่ึงจะทาให้
การอ่านน้นั ประสบผลสาเร็จ การรู้จกั หารายละเอียดของส่ิงที่อา่ น จึงเป็นวิธีที่ผอู้ า่ นควรจะเรียนรู้ และ
ฝึกฝนอยเู่ ป็นประจาเวลาอ่านบทอา่ นใด ๆ กต็ าม ซ่ึงจะเป็นประโยชน์ตอ่ ผอู้ า่ นเป็นอยา่ งยงิ่

ชนดิ ของรายละเอยี ด
1. รายละเอยี ดใหญ่ (Major details) ทาหนา้ ท่ีสนบั สนุนหรือขยายใจความหลกั โดยตรง
ถา้ หากยอ่ หนา้ ใดขาดรายละเอียดประเภทน้ีไม่วา่ จะมากหรือนอ้ ยกต็ าม อาจจะทาใหย้ อ่ หนา้ น้นั ไม่
สมบรู ณ์ อ่านแลว้ ไมเ่ ป็นท่ีเขา้ ใจ กลายเป็นยอ่ หนา้ ที่ไม่ดีได้
2. รายละเอยี ดย่อย (Minor details) มีหนา้ ที่ขยายใจความหลกั เหมือนกนั แต่รองลงไปจาก
รายละเอียดใหญ่ ส่วนมากมกั จะเป็นขอ้ ความท่ีมีใจความสัมพนั ธต์ อ่ เนื่องมาจากรายละเอียดใหญ่ เพือ่
ทาหนา้ ท่ีขยายใจความสาคญั ที่ไดอ้ ธิบายมาแลว้ หรือกล่าวมาแลว้ ใหม้ ีความชดั เจนหรือเขา้ ใจแจ่มชดั
มากข้ึนไปอีก

วธิ ีอ่านเพ่ือจับรายละเอยี ด …

1. มงุ่ จบั ใจความสาคญั หรือประโยคใจความหลกั ใหไ้ ดก้ ่อน
2. ขีดเส้นใตใ้ จความย่อยๆ อนั ที่ทาหนา้ ท่ีขยายใจความหลกั น้ี
3. สรุปรวมเอาใจความหลกั และใจความยอ่ ยเขา้ ใหเ้ ป็นใจความเดียวกนั
4. บางคร้ังควรจะสังเกตเคร่ืองหมายวรรคตอนหรือคาเช่ือมความคิดหรือขอ้ ความบางอยา่ งท่ี
ผเู้ ขยี นนามาใชก้ บั ใจความยอ่ ย เพราะสิ่งเหล่าน้ีจะช่วยใหก้ ารจบั รายละเอียดต่างๆ ไดถ้ ูกตอ้ งและเร็ว
ข้นึ เช่น “In the first place…..,” “In the second place…..,” และ “Finally,” หรือบางทีอาจเป็น “One
cause….” “A second cause….”และ “Third” หรือผเู้ ขียนอาจจะใชต้ วั หนงั สือหรือตวั เลขในวงเลบ็
แทนกไ็ ด้ เช่น (a), (b) และ (c) หรือ (1), (2) และ (3) เป็นตน้

Jethro gets ready for his job
interview. He takes a shower.
He shaves.

He brushes his
teeth. He cuts
his fingernails.
He combs his
hair.
He puts on the new suit he bought just for today.

Jethro feels confident. He is also very nervous.

Here is why. Jethro graduated at the top of his class in college. Still,
Jethro knows the economy is bad. His dad just lost his job at the bank a
few weeks ago! Many people are interviewing for the very same job.
There is a lot of competition.

Jethro is still positive. He thinks he has a good chance of getting the
job at the technology company.

Jethro arrives at his interview at 9:45. He is 15 minutes early. He realizes
the importance of being prompt. He does not want to be late.

“Have a seat. Mr. Stone will be right with you,” the receptionist says.

Jethro sits. He thinks about what he has learned to do in an interview.

can use pretty ribbon, yarn, or string to pull through the hole for the hanger.
These are nice gifts to give to your teachers, parents, and friends at Christmas
time to hang on their Christmas trees and they are so special because they

government's business to tell us what to eat." We went into Simpson's

notice. We serve what we've always served. Almost all of it is fattening."

THE TAJ MAHAL

Located near Agra in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, the Taj Mahal is
the most popular tourist attraction in India. Up to three million tourists visit
every year. It is also a popular honeymoon destination for Indian couples,
because visiting the Taj Mahal is said to make the love of a married couple
strong and lasting.

The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum, or large tomb. Why is a building for a
dead person considered to be one of the world’s most romantic places? It was
built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife,
Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth. Grief-stricken over her death, he
ordered the construction of an architectural masterpiece so she would
never be forgotten. That’s romantic!

Building started soon after Mumtaz Mahal died in 1631. It was finished
around 1648. More than twenty thousand workers and artisans from across
south and central Asia worked on the project. The Taj Mahal is a graceful
combination of Persian, Turkish, Islamic, and Indian architecture.
Materials from around India and Asia were used to build the Taj Mahal.
More than a thousand elephants transported supplies to the construction
site. The Taj Mahal is built primarily of white marble, and twenty-eight
different kinds of jewels and precious stones are set into the marble. It is
surrounded by red sandstone walls on three sides.

The Taj Mahal is a group of buildings amid a beautiful forty-two acre
garden. At the garden’s center is a long pool that reflects the central main
building, which is 58 meters tall and 56 meters wide, with a white marble
dome. In all, there are twenty-two domes. There are four 40 meter tall
minarets at the corners of the outer wall around the main building. The
minarets lean slightly outwards so that they would fall away from the main
building in case of an earthquake.

The Islamic holy city of Mecca is to the west of the Taj Mahal, so a
mosque was built on that side. To preserve the symmetry of the compound,
a guest house was built on the opposite side. Symmetry is an important part
of the Taj Mahal’s design. The Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage
Site in 1983. Because of the perfect harmony of its proportions, it is
considered to be one of the most beautiful and important examples of art in
India.

EIFFEL TOWER

The Eiffel Tower is a global monument. It is the
tallest building in Paris, France, and it was the
tallest building in the world until 1930. It is one
of the most well-known buildings in the world,

The Eiffel Tower was built for the 1889 World’s
Fair in Paris. This fair was going to celebrate the centennial, or 100th
anniversary, of the French Revolution. The Eiffel Tower served as the entrance
to the fair. It is named after its designer, Gustave Eiffel.

It took three hundred workers and two years to build the Eiffel Tower.
They used over eighteen thousand pieces of iron, and two and a half million
rivets. The Eiffel Tower weighs over seven thousand tons. It is three hundred
meters tall (324 meters including the spire), which would be about 80 levels in
a regular building.

The Eiffel Tower is split into three levels. The first level can be reached
by stairs (328 steps) or an elevator. The second level can also be reached by
stairs (340 steps) or elevator. The third level can be reached only by elevator.

When the Eiffel Tower was built, there was a lot of controversy. Many
people did not like the design. Some people thought it was too tall to be sturdy.
In fact, the designers were used to working with bridges and knew how to
make their structure stable. Some people protested it because they thought it
was very ugly. Now it is generally considered to be one of the most elegant
structures in the world.

The Eiffel Tower was built as a temporary structure that was only
meant to stand for twenty years. However, after it had been standing for
twenty years, it was still in good shape. It was also performing a function—as a
radio antenna. Instead of tearing down the “temporary” building, the City of
Paris decided to keep it. Over a century after its construction, the Eiffel Tower
still stands, and serves as a landmark and symbol of France.

Butterflies

Butterflies are some of the most interesting insects on the planet
Earth. There are more than seventeen thousand different kinds of
butterflies! Butterflies come in all shapes and sizes.

Butterflies go through four main stages of life. The first stage is

future butterfly eats as much as possible. As it grows, it sheds it outer
