What is wind energy?

● Wind turbines have two or three
blades at the top that spin and
make wind.

● Wind energy is strong because the
wind from the windmill blows a
lot of wind

● The wind is turned into electricity
and that is wind power.

How does wind energy work?

1.The sun heats the air during the day. At nint the air cool.
2 The movement of air makes wind.
3 wind turbine catches the air and the blades spin..
4 The wind energy is turned into electricity .
5. The power is sent to home and buildings.

History of Wind Energy

People used wind to power their sailboats. The
first windmills were used in Persia. Windmills
used to be found on farms and cows used to
power them. In the 1900s wind turbines started
to be used for energy.

Good things about wind energy

Wind power is clean. It does not pollute
the air. Windmills do not take up much
space and 1 wind turbine can power
1,000 homes.

Bad things about wind energy

Some places do have enough wind to make
energy but it is hard to bring wind to cities.
Wind turbines are expensive. Also it can be
dangerous for some birds because they can fly
into the blades.

Windmills cost a lot of money Birds can get hurt if they fly
. too close to the windmill.

Future use of wind energy

Right now, 4% of the USA use wind energy. The US
department of Energy predict 20% could use wind
energy someday.

Our opinion about wind energy

Madison: I think wind energy is good it can Wind
power is clean. It does not pollute the air.

Gloria: Wind energy is good because it can power
1,000 homes and doesn’t take up a lot of space.

Joey: I think wind energy is good because it can
power home and building. And It is fresh air to
everyone.
