Meglitinides(REPAGLINE and
NATEGLINEDE)

Type:Capsule

Method of the drug

Meglitinides are oral
medications.
People with type 1
(insulin-dependent) diabetes or
allergies to meglitinidesshould
not use them.
Meglitindes to be taken about
15 minutes before meals three
times a day.
Meglitinides can be used alone
or in combination with other
medications.

Bromocriptine(CYCLOSET
/PARLODEL)

▪ Type:Tablet;capsule
Method of the drug
▪ Take by mouth(oral route).
▪ Bromocriptine is also used to treat

the signs and symptoms of
Parkinson's disease, often in
combination with levodopa.
▪ (Parlodel) is used to treat
Parkinson's disease, it is usually
taken twice a day with food.
▪ (Cycloset) is usually taken once a
day with food within 2 hours of
waking in the morning.
▪ Take bromocriptine at around the
same time(s) every day.

Antithyroid (PROHYTHIOURACIL (PTU))

Type:Tablet

Method of the drug

Is an oral medication that is used to
manage hyperthyroidism which is due to
an overactive thyroid gland.

Usually taken three times a day, once
every 8 hours.

Used if methimazole or radioactive iodine
treatment is contraindicated or as an
alternative treatment option in a patient
with Graves disease or toxic multinodular
goiter.

Used before thyroidectomy or radioactive
iodine therapy to treat hyperthyroidism.

Unasyn(AMPICILLIN and
SULBACTAM)
▪ Type:Liquid, Injection
Method of the drug
▪ Is used in the treatment of severe

bacterial infections.
▪ Given injections every 6 hours (4

times a day).
▪ The duration of treatment

depends on the type of infection
you are experiencing.
▪ Is injected into a muscle, or given
as an infusion into a vein.
▪ Use injections of ampicillin and
sulbactam until you finish the
prescription, even if you feel
better.

Cephalexin(KEFLEX)
▪ Type:Tablets
Method of the drug
▪ Usually taken with or without food

every 6 or 12 hours for 7 to 14
days, depending on the condition
treated.
▪ Take cephalexin at the same time
daily.
▪ Keflex is a prescription medication
used to treat the symptoms of
various bacterial infections by
stopping the growth of bacteria.
▪ Keflex can be used alone or with
other drugs.
▪ Keflex is known as a cephalosporin
antibiotic.

Semaglutide(Wegovy)

▪ Type:Injectable

Method of the drug

▪ Wegovy is the first and only
prescription weight management
medication taken once a week.

▪ Works by mimicking hormones that
target brain areas involved in
controlling appetite and food
intake.

▪ It is taken on the same day every
week, at any time of the day, with
or without food.

▪ Wegovy is available in 5 doses
between 0.25 mg to 2.4 mg, each
taken once a week.

▪ Each dose comes in a different color
pen.

Flurbiprofen (OCUFEN)

▪ Type: Drop

Method of the drug

▪ Given before and after eye
surgery and laser surgery, to
control eye inflammation in
patients who have been
advised not to use steroids.

▪ Given before surgery to help
prevent pupils from
becoming smaller during
surgery.

Antacids(PEPTO-BISMOL)
▪ Type:Liquid;Tablets;Caplet

Method of the drug
▪ Pepto-Bismol is used to treat diarrhea,

nausea, heartburn, indigestion, gas, or
upset stomach.
▪ This medicine exactly as directed on the
label, or as prescribed by your doctor.
▪ Shake the oral (liquid) suspension before
you measure a dose. Use the dose syringe
provided, or use a medication dose
measuring device (not a kitchen spoon).
▪ You must chew chewable tablets before
you swallow them.
▪ Drink plenty of fluids while you are taking
this medicine.
▪ Do not take more than 8 doses a day (24
hours).

NSAIDs(IBUPROFEN)

▪ Type :oral capsule; oral suspension;
oral tablet; oral tablet, chewable

Method of the drug

▪ used to reduce fever and treat pain
or inflammation caused by many
conditions such as headache,
toothache, back pain, arthritis,
menstrual cramps, or minor injury.

▪ Ibuprofen is used in adults and
children who are at least 6 months
old.

▪ Usually take these once a day in the
evening or twice a day. Leave a gap of
10 to 12 hours between doses if
taking ibuprofen twice a day.

Allopurinol (Zyloprim, Aloprim)

▪ Type :Tablets;powders
injections

Method of the drug

▪ Used to prevent gout, prevent
certain types of gallstones and for
the high levels of uric acid that can
occur with chemotherapy.

▪ It is taken by mouth or injected
into a vein.

▪ It is usually better to take it just
after eating and the tablet should
be swallowed with water.

› Only give the medicine that you have prepared.
› Know the goals and expected results.
› Do not leave medicine by the side of the bed.
› Check the ID band before administering.
› Some medications need to be checked by another nurse.
› Consult a Pharmacist or Dr if the dose is outside the

recommended range
› Do not give medications that are calculated by anyone other

than a pharmacist.
