NURSING RESEARCH ON THE GREEN is an event that recognizes and celebrates nursing scholarship, research, and innovation in the tri-state area. Now in our 22nd year, we strive to provide enriching opportunities for the regional nursing community that educational and inspirational. This is accomplished through the sharing of knowledge, both new and old, that moves us toward a vision of nursing that encapsulates the tradition of days passed and the hope of what could be. As we see the healthcare landscape shifting around us, it becomes clearer by the day that nursing will be an integral part of establishing the processes, approaches, and policies that will position us to meet the challenges and needs of tomorrow. NROTG aims to be a part of that work. As such, we are proud to share that our theme for this year is: Nursing for Today & Tomorrow CONTACT HOURS AVAILABLE This activity has been submitted to WNA CEAP for approval to award contact hours. Wisconsin Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. To earn contact hours for this live event, participants must be in attendance for all planned activities and complete an online evaluation form (to be sent out via email after the event). 3 BREAKOUT SESSIONS Addressing Challenges in Rural Health Care With Innovative Digital Solutions Gina Von Ruden, MSN, RN Mayo Clinic Health System The landscape of healthcare has changed rapidly since the onset of the pandemic and the nursing workforce is facing unprecedented challenges. Currently serving as the Nursing Administrator at Mayo Clinic Health System - Franciscan Healthcare, Gina Von Ruden will share how a rural healthcare system in the Midwest, has implemented digital solutions to improve access, address nurse staffing shortages and foster a new model of care. Nursing has heard the call to innovate and is leveraging digital tools in the acute care setting, as well as across the continuum of care to meet the needs of our patients. Authentic Leadership in Nursing: Find You, Find Joy, and Find Our Way... Together Andrea Hauser, DNP, RN, CNL Gundersen Health System Andrea has over a decade of nursing leadership experience and currently serves as the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Acute Care Nursing in La Crosse for Gundersen Health System. In this session, she will provide a brief review of the current state of nursing. After which, she will use the lens of Authentic Leadership as a guide for participants to learn about who they are as nursing professionals. Through didactic presentation, reflection, and some collective sharing, participants will work to identify their unique personal brand that will help build the bridge to a bright new day in our profession. Nursing Beyond the Bedside: A Social Determinants of Health Approach Sandy Brekke, MASL, BSN, RN Gundersen Health System Health happens out in the community. That means conditions at home, within families, at work and in neighborhoods can play a role in a person’s overall health and well-being. Currently serving as the Senior Consultant to the Office of Population Health at Gundersen Health, Sandy has spent over 30 years navigating the challenges and inequities that individuals need to navigate to achieve a level of health they deserve.
