COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) CONTINUES to impact our communities and can cause great concern. Our priority is to protect the
safety and health of our supporters, MACK members, community partners, visitors, volunteers, staff and their families. The McCormick
Arts Council is taking the following steps to safeguard our community:
• The MACK will continue to protect and respect the needs of our community and adhere to national, state, and local recommendations to
limit social interaction, practice social distancing in accordance with CDC guidance, and take every possible precaution to avoid potential
exposure to, and to slow the spread of, COVID-19.

• The MACK Artisan Guild and Gallery Shop is now open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 -
4:00 through the month of June. We request that all customers wear a mask, use the provided hand
sanitizer, and respect our social distancing requirements. Currently, we are planning to extend to
include Thursdays in July and August.
• All upcoming Artist Exhibitions will be delivered virtually. Please see our Facebook page for
additional cultural opportunities. All additional programs and fundraising events are postponed until
further notice.
• Our Summer Youth Programs will be offered in partnership with Clemson Extension 4H and McCormick Library, and offer a schedule
of activities in a variety of virtual formats. Please email for more information.
• Our Visual Arts Program is postponed until further notice. This includes all art classes and workshops, and individual lessons. We are
looking at returning in September, and will adhere to CDC Guidelines.
• Community Threads is exploring a soft return in July. Please email for the modified schedule.
• Non-MACK printing jobs are not available at this time and we are not scheduling new requests for facility rentals at this time. Existing
facility rentals are encouraged to postpone or provide a detailed health plan for their event.
• Our employees are able to minimize their in-office tasks, take health precautions when entering the building and work from home to
respect the guidance of our leadership until ample testing and vaccinations are available to protect our community. Our office is open on
Fridays by appointment only - please email in advance.
• We are reviewing and monitoring the situation weekly and continue to help advance our mission despite the challenges of this year. We
aim to reopen in a modified format in September for art classes, exhibitions, shop, and additional services. The MACK is not closed -
simply modifying how we can best serve.
As this challenging health situation continues to evolve, we will continue to adapt our practices to best support our artists, students,
visitors, and community members. We appreciate your patience as we all navigate this period of uncertainty. Please consider joining
our MACK membership, or offering a contribution to our ongoing programs. We are still providing art, culture, and education to the
community. Be well out there!•

Trunks of Gold Recap

by NICOLE MATTHEWS
photos by Nicole Matthews

“TRUNKS OF GOLD” was the perfect reason to break out of the house on a beautiful summer day!
Brass decor, children’s items, horse shoe sculptures, and fresh bakery items were some of the
treasures to be found at the annual event held on Main Street in downtown McCormick.
Though crowds were slim, it was great to pay our respects to the newly repaved
Main Street, and peer into the shops of downtown McCormick.
Seeing residents of McCormick and Savannah Lake Village
fellowship with one another, was a welcome sight after
many months of social distancing. We picked up
a few treasures for our home, but the true
highlight of the day was seeing
people enjoy one another’s
company.•

Come On Down to the
McCormick Farmers’ Market

by NICOLE MATTHEWS

McCORMICK FARMERS’ MARKET is a
shopper's delight! Modern grocery stores
don’t offer variety in produce selections,
making the farmers market a treat for
culinary exploration. A visit to McCormick
Farmers’ Market will have your wheels
spinning to create fresh summertime meals.
The tomatoes are some of the best tasting
tomatoes we’ve enjoyed in ages. Additional
offerings include farm fresh eggs and house
plants.

Come Early! Vendors are set up to accept
customers and showcase fresh seasonal
produce, even before the 3:00 p.m. opening.
Make plans to visit each week while produce
is ripe for the pickin’.•

Cara Verrell (Broker/Owner), Russ Verrell (Owner), Tom Greene (REALTOR®)

The right way to sell a home starts with the right real estate agent.

See What Our Customers Are Saying:
We are very pleased with the service we received from RE/MAX Leisurely Living. We had already relocated to another
state during the sale of our home and Cara was very responsive to all our needs throughout the process. Cara provided
all the service you would expect along with the small things like buying a replacement battery for our fireplace remote

and returning our WCTL router. McCormick is such a small close-knit community where you really do know most
everyone. After living there nearly seven years we are close friends with most of the Realtors in town and the decision

of who to list with was not an easy one. When we are on vacations in other areas of the country we will stop and
look at pictures of homes for sale posted on the window of a Realtor in the shopping area of town. RE/MAX Leisurely
Living’s location next to the Chamber of Commerce was a major selling point for us. Our house was on the market 35
days when we signed a contract and 62 days when we signed the closing papers. Looks like we made the right choice!

— Brad & Jackie Petersen - 313 Mulberry Lane

What was promised us was delivered. We received helpful suggestions before the house was listed for sale and photos
were taken. The photos were truly professional and the write-up was awesome. The experience of the Realtor allowed

us to list our home at a competitive price that would sell quickly. Our experience with RE/MAX Leisurely Living was
very positive and we would recommend them whether you are buying or selling your house.

WGA LADIES HAD a fantastic time playing Putting Contest Winners Lots of fun had at the
on June 4th. The weather was clear and sunny, Putting Contest
and the Tara Course was beautiful. The event
was the “9-18 Invitational” — 9 hole ladies asked
18 hole ladies to partner with them in playing
a fun scramble. Other games included closest
to the pin, closest to the squiggly line, and a
putting contest. Maintaining social distancing
prevented a sit-down lunch, but we were provided
with delicious box lunches and our choice of
beverages. Yum!

Four flights of ladies gave it their all on the
course.

Congratulations to the following winning teams:

ROD & GUN CLUB

Semi-Annual Arcade ShootSavannah Lakes Rod & Gun Club Relives Childhood Memories with
by KEN WILES
DO YOU REMEMBER when you were a kid, and the carnival came to town, and with that carnival
was a shooting range? They provided you with a 22 pump style rifle and told you to shoot the ducks
moving down range? Well, members had a chance to relive those childhood memories.
The arcade shoot is one of our most popular shoots, and is the only competitive shoot for the 22
caliber rifle.
Members were required to use 22 rim-fire rifles or hand guns only. The guns could have scopes,
red dots, iron sights or aperture sights. Shooters could also use sand bags, bipods, or any other
appurtenances to support and steady their weapon. The targets were placed 25 yards down range and
each contestant fired 10 rounds for the contest. Dave Skidmore came in with a perfect score and triumphed over all participants, to earn
the coveted traveling trophy, which had been created by Dick and Wendy Kvale. The trophy presentation was made by Len Azzarano. The
event was conducted by members Dwaine Wright, Del Owen and Ken Wiles.

COVID-19

DUE TO THE COVID-19 our activities have been severely curtailed. While we have been unable to conduct competitive
events and even fishing charters, members have been able to use the pistol range with a limit of four members at any one
time. I know from talking to members, that they are doing a lot of fishing, and with a good degree of success.•

“Capital Home Builders led the top of the new
construction list by a huge margin. Building in
the village since 2005, it is impressive how they
consistently deliver what clients want when
building new homes. Their reputation as the most
successful builder in our community has been well
earned. Congratulations Capital Home Builders!”
