JOKE OF THE MONTH:

GLENN AND BARRY were playing golf one day. They decided
that they would adhere strictly to the rules, i.e., no mulligans,
improving their lies, etc. After a few holes, Glenn’s ball landed on
a cart path. As he reached down to pick up his ball to get relief,
Barry said, “We agreed that we would not improve our lie.”

No matter how much Glenn tried to explain that he was entitled
to this relief, Barry would not allow it.

So, Glenn went to the cart to get a club. As he stood over the
ball he took a few practice swings, each time scraping the club
on the pavement, taking out big chunks of blacktop and sending

out lots of sparks! Finally, after several
practice swings Glenn took his shot. The
ball took off and landed on the green
about 6-feet from the pin.

“Great shot!” Barry exclaimed. “What
club did you use?” Glenn answered, “I

THANKS TO ALL of the grandparents
of SLV this past week. We finished up with
42 children who spent 4 days with a very
innovative Vacation Bible School.

We called it “Camp Grand Slam.” This
year our theme was touching all the bases
of God's lesson, thus hitting a ‘Grand
Slam!’ While a grand slam in baseball is
one of the most exciting plays, there was
plenty of excitement at our local Lutheran
Church who hosted the children ages 3 –
14, along with the counselors, teachers (aka
Coaches) and support staff.

We started off with orientation, which
included a hot dog dinner and homemade
ice cream, rides on the Camp Grand
Express Train, and a message from Ernie
the Puppet, with the Pastor helping out.
After that, each day started off with

‘Minute-to-Win-It’, another
visit from Ernie, and
then breaking into
classrooms, music,
or crafts. And then,
after that exciting
morning, it was back
for more excitement
later in the afternoon
with a visit to the SLV
pool, a day on the lake

including some tubing, and
a Water Palooza on the final day. Finally
it was all capped off with a visit to the
“Augusta Green Jackets” where we got to
parade on the ball field, get our pictures
taken with Auggie, and root for another
‘Grand Slam’.

A special thanks to the sponsors of
the event. We purchased 100 Green
Jacket tickets, 17 of which were given to
the campers, courtesy of Capital Home
Builders. A big banner and 30’ dual lane
Slip-n-Slide was sponsored by Wesley
Commons. Tom Greene helped out
with a couple of small banners and Bill
Rohery lent his 2 seater golf cart, which
was turned into our train engine. And of
course a special thanks to our 40 some
volunteers from the church.

This is our 12th year of Camp Grand
and we invite you and your grandchildren
to join us next year on the 4th of July,
when we will kick off the week of “Camp
Grand ‘Ole Opry!”•

Ccloomseptloetheocmaree.,
We are local surgeons who live and practice full-time in the Lakelands community. We care for all our
patients here at the region’s largest referral hospital. You and your family members don’t need to
travel out of town. As your hometown orthopedist, we are proud to serve you and your physician when

s  urgery is needed.

High-quality and safe care for our patients is our highest priority at Self Regional. In addition, you have

a  ccess to a wide array of specialists, normally only available in much larger, metropolitan areas.

Our surgeons are board certified and several have received fellowship training in a subspecialty area;

a  nd, together, we are able to offer both general services and the extra skill associated with a specialist.

Our subspecialties include:

• Minimally invasive surgery

• Arthroscopic surgery

(microscopic joint surgery)

• Hand, foot and shoulder surgery

• Sports medicine

 • Total joint replacement

When your physician recommends

an orthopedic specialist, Orthopaedic

Associates of the Lakelands is local

healthcare worth asking for. Nonereefdeerdra. l
