TIP OF THE MONTH:
Slow down when roads are wet.
Roads are the most slippery when
it first begins to rain. This is the
result of rainwater mixing with
oil, grease, engine coolant, and
other vehicle fluids on the road.
This is especially dangerous to
motorcyclists and golf carts.

Is GIR (Greens in regulation) the most
important Statistic to lower your handicap?
WE HAVE BEEN using the GHIN handicap system for two
years now and keeping track of all of the data that it makes
available, which makes it easy to answer the question. Is GIR the
most important game improvement Statistic? One simple method
of determining is to look at national averages. If you are frustrated
because you’re not improving your GIR stat you may compare
favorably to some of the best or at least keeping pace with golfers
in your handicap range. The number of greens hit by handicap is a
good place to analyze your game. If you’re below your target it may
time to schedule a lesson with our golf professional, but if you’re
above your target you may want to analyze more data•

We are local surgeons who live and practice full-time in the Lakelands community. We care for all our
patients here at the region’s largest referral hospital. You and your family members don’t need to
travel out of town. As your hometown orthopedist, we are proud to serve you and your physician when
s urgery is needed.
High-quality and safe care for our patients is our highest priority at Self Regional. In addition, you have
a ccess to a wide array of specialists, normally only available in much larger, metropolitan areas.
Our surgeons are board certified and several have received fellowship training in a subspecialty area;
a nd, together, we are able to offer both general services and the extra skill associated with a specialist.
Our subspecialties include:
• Minimally invasive surgery
• Arthroscopic surgery
(microscopic joint surgery)
• Hand, foot and shoulder surgery
• Sports medicine
• Total joint replacement
When your physician recommends
an orthopedic specialist, Orthopaedic
Associates of the Lakelands is local
healthcare worth asking for. Nonereefdeerdra. l
