05 Introduction Hyperion is currently available in dry powder for cosmeceutical applications. Two grades are being offered: GP and EP. All Hyperions are made from pure Zinc derived from distillation process. They come in the form of fine powder with particle sizes ranging from 6.0 ~ 10.0 um. Differences Between the GP and EP • GP is general purpose grade. • EP series has a Pb content < 0.01%, in compliance to ASTM Type II or III available upon special request. Using Hyperion in Your Product Hyperion readily mixes well with most products. It may not work well in low-viscosity situations due to its high specific gravity of 7.13g/ cm3 where sedimentation or separation tend to occur over time. Introduction Hyperion TF series is particularly useful when transparency is a key consideration, i.e. as coatings for windows, solar panel glass, touch-sensitive displays etc. We offer various methods for depositing the thin film onto a rigid, non-porous substrate with even-thickness ranging from 50 - 120 nm. Key Product Differences Hyperion TF CBD products are obtained via the chemical bath deposition (CBD) method. This easily implementable process starts by evenly coating a thin layer of pre-cursor chemicals onto the surface of a substrate evenly. Once dried, the glass, along with the deposited film, is submerged into a chemical tank for a known period of time before it is ready for use. Hyperion TF RF products are obtained via the Magnetron Radio-frequency (RF) sputtering process that occurs in a vacuum chamber. This process involves using energy to vaporize a target material and an electric field to deposit a thin layer of coating onto the substrate. The RF series products come in two different configurations: the RFZN series, a single metal layer product primarily focused on antimicrobial and antiviral properties suitable for touchscreen display usage. On the other hand, the RFML AF is a mult-layered configuration better tuned for its self-cleaning and anti-fogging properties. Principles of Operations Similar to Hyperion powder, which spontaneously generates Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) through the nano-crystal arrays grown around it, the arrays in the TF series are grown horizontally across the surface of the substrate along the X and Y axes. The mechanisms remain unchanged. The radicals generated are similarly efficient at disintegrating organic compounds. They also operate without requiring UV stimulation. Small Change, Big Difference Applying Hyperion self-cleaning coating is easy. It can be deposited onto the glass in-line before leaving the factory, or they can be applied onto film rolls and then attached to the exterior of an existing glass surface. Hyperion TF leaves a surface constantly negativelycharged. The charged particles work round the clock to disintegrate organic compounds upon contact, preventing the formation of bio-film and discouraging the bonding of dirt / grime. Therefore, it enables a surface to consume much less water and detergent during cleaning. The superhydrophilic surface means any incidental water droplet will flatten on contact, a process that also dislodges any disintegrated residue that remains on the surface because of gravitational effect.fi fi More Light = More Power Accumulated dust scatter light omnidirectionally. Most of it consists of organic matter that also absorbs light. The picture below compares microscope images of treated and untreated glass after 24 weeks of exposure for comparison. Environmental Impact: A look at the numbers On Chart 1 and 2 compares the amount of water and detergent consumed over 24 months of maintaining a 2000 m2 solar farm. In Chart 3, the data compares surfaces treated and untreated when left unattended for 24 weeks, angled at 180 degrees in a typical tropical setout. In Chart 4, the Hyperion treated surface is shown to be highly antimicrobial. This means that the surface is capable of discouraging the growth of algae, molds, fungus, or any other form of fouling involving bio-film formation.
