God makes himself known to his creatures because he first knows himself perfectly as a personal, speaking God. Although all people suppress the knowledge of God in their sin, he has clearly communicated about himself to his creatures through the creation and through human being made in the image of God. On top of this general revelation, God communicates about himself to particular people in special revelation, which includes the events of nature and history, human words that are inspired by God and recorded for us in Scripture, and through the person of Jesus Christ, who is the ultimate image of God. In all of these different ways, God reveals himself as Lord, which is comprised of his control, presence, and authority over all things. With all the many voices in the world today, it is hard to determine which ones should be listened to. Between friends, family, media, and experts on various topics, there is an overflow of input. In this sermon on Ezekiel 36:16 titled “The Revelation from God,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones reminds us of the importance of listening to Scripture above all other voices. Many of these inputs try and tell that nothing is desperately wrong with the world and that everyone should just go on and enjoy life. But that is not what Scripture says, and Dr. Lloyd-Jones urges the listener to see this difference. He states that nothing is more important than one’s approach to this book. But what is unique about it compared with the other supposed sources of wisdom? First, it is a revelation from God, who is all-knowing and all-powerful. This in and of itself is a reason to listen very closely to what the Bible teaches. Second, the Bible starts with the foundation that no one on their own can attain the truth about what really matters eternally—all are wholly dependent on God for this. Many will say that they do not like these truths, but Dr. Lloyd-Jones is quick to state that this attitude does not change the truth. Through Jesus, God has made a way for people to be reconciled to Him. 7 FIVE WAYS GOD REVEALS HIMSELF God reveals Himself in a variety of ways in the Bible. Theologians categorize these into two groups: general revelation and special revelation. General revelation refers to the things we can know of God through: 1) nature, 2) humanity, and 3) history. Specific revelation is specific manifestations included in God’s words and acts as recorded in the 4) Bible and demonstrated in the life of 5) Jesus. A brief study of these theological terms and their meanings will greatly enhance our understanding of how God reveals Himself to us. It will also help us better understand why we need daily personal Bible study using the keys that we have learned. Both of these types of revelation are important to our understanding of God. But it is vital to understand that some ways reveal God more clearly than others. Let’s take a look at the blessings, and potential downfalls, of each one: GENERAL REVELATION General revelation is usually considered to include nature, human beings and history. Each one reveals something about God’s eternal power and divine nature (Romans 1:20). General revelation is accessible to everyone in the world, universally providing the opportunity to follow God. This is how God gets our attention and points us to our need for Him. Nature, God’s second book, reveals God’s creativity and forethought, and points us to the Bible. 1) Nature: Bible writers, including Jesus himself, often point us to nature, “God’s Second Book”. The study of nature reveals much about the creativity, order, and forethought of God, yet nature has been marred by sin and no longer perfectly represents its Creator. 2) Human Beings: Humanity is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). We can think and reason, as well as discern between right and wrong. We are capable of kindness and emotion. These are God-like characteristics. Human beings also have an intuitive knowledge of God that propels us to search for Him (Acts 17:24-28). Whether we admit it or not, each of us has a “God-shaped void” that only God can fill. 3) History/Experience: God is the Lord of history. If we study carefully, we can see how God led kingdoms and individuals in paths that reveal His way. A prayerful view of our own life experiences can also reveal God’s intervening hand. Yet history and experience fall short of fully manifesting God’s specific plans and methods. The short span of a human life, combined with our sin-darkened insight, prevent us from seeing all God is doing in history. And how often we misunderstand what He is doing in our lives! SPECIFIC REVELATION Specific revelation (also sometimes called special revelation) is the theological term that refers to God’s use of language to communicate specifically with us through the Bible and Jesus the Living Word. These are the clearest representations we have of God and deserve our most careful study 4) The Bible: The Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God, recorded by His messengers the prophets. God spoke to the prophets through dreams, visions, direct conversation and more. The Holy Spirit then guided the prophets as they wrote down the messages God had given them in their own words. God was actively involved in every aspect of this process, so we can trust that the Bible accurately represents God’s thoughts, words and actions. 5) Jesus: Do you want to see God more clearly? Then you must look at Jesus, the living “Word of God” (John 1:1; Revelation 19:13). Jesus is the ultimate revelation of God’s character. He is the “exact representation and perfect imprint of the Father” Hebrews 1:3 Amplified. Jesus himself said, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father.” John 14:9. Jesus demonstrated in human flesh what God is like so that our finite minds and hearts can understand and love Him. “The essence of divine revelation [is that] God reveals Himself in words and acts, through many different channels, but most fully in the person of Jesus Christ. Excerpted from: https://www.godled.org/2019/06/five-ways-godreveals-himself/ Nature, God’s second book, reveals God’s creativity and forethought, and points us to the Bible.

REVELATIONS FROM GOD 11 First, what does this mean? What is a revelation and what does it mean to receive from God? Let us delve into this a little deeper. Revelation is an uncovering, a bringing to light that which had been previously wholly hidden or only obscurely seen. God has been pleased in various ways and at different times (Heb. 1:1) to make a supernatural revelation of Himself and His purposes and plans, which, under the guidance of His Spirit, has been committed to writing. The scriptures are not merely the “record” of revelation; they are the revelation itself in a written form, in order to give the accurate preservation and propagation of the truth. (Easton’s bible dictionary/Biblestudytools) One such scripture is found in Ephesians 1:15-19 described in NKJV Prayer for Spiritual Wisdom and in Vine’s CED, the communication of the knowledge of God to the soul (Written by Paul). Verse 15, therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints; 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him; 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints; 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power. What God reveals to us in His Word is good for our soul. Let us reverence and worship Our God because He desires that we know and not be ignorant of the things of Him. He brings to light His truth for us to live by and shed light on the things that are good for us and those that are not. I am grateful God wants us to know His truth so that we can govern our lives according to His Word and Will for our lives as we live for Him. Praise be to Our God who keeps nothing a secret from us. We have to be willing to receive and believe that this is all for our good and for His Glory. Hallelujah In Jesus’ name. Amen! Thank You God. Prayer: Father thank You for everything You do and not do for us. Everything is not good for us and in Your knowledge understanding and wisdom You always reveal to us what we need in every situation. We listen and look for You God in all things happening in our lives. Your revelations let us know who You are and what You expect of us, Thank You for it all. In Jesus’ Name. Amen! It is so. 13 In 2024, let’s remember to be intentional and remain in the moment! This is a helpful read for everyone. “It’s progress, not perfection! Nothing changes if nothing changes!” ~ Dr. Stacey Blalock Henry Anita Soni shared a few things that we should continue to remember as we continue this new year. “How to Change Your Ending, Not Your Beginning!” We all have regrets in life. Things we wish we could go back and change. Mistakes we made that haunt us every day. But the truth is, we can’t change the past. We can only learn from it and move on, but moving on doesn’t mean giving up. It means taking charge of your present and your future. It means creating a new ending for your story, one that reflects who you are and who you want to be. That’s why I want to share with you some tips on how to change your ending, not your beginning. These are things that have helped me overcome my own challenges and achieve my goals. They are not easy, but they are worth it. Accept yourself! The first step to changing your ending is to accept yourself as you are. You are not defined by your past, but by your choices. You have strengths and weaknesses, talents and flaws, dreams and fears. You are a unique and valuable person, and you deserve respect and love. Forgive yourself! The second step to changing your ending is to forgive yourself for your mistakes. You are not perfect, and neither is anyone else. You have done things that you regret, but you can’t let them hold you back. You must let go of the guilt and the shame and focus on the lessons and the growth. Challenge yourself! The third step to changing your ending is to challenge yourself to do better. You have the power to change your habits, your mindset, and your actions. You have the potential to achieve your goals, whatever they may be. You must set realistic and specific plans and follow them with determination and perseverance. Support yourself! The fourth step to changing your ending is to support yourself along the way. You are not alone, and you don't have to do this by yourself. GOD is always with us and is able! Additionally, you have friends and family who care about you, and who want to see you succeed. You have resources and tools that can help you cope and improve. You have to reach out for help when you need it and appreciate the support you receive. Changing your ending is not easy, but it is possible. It is not a one-time event, but a continuous process. It is not a destination, but a journey. And it is not a fantasy, but a reality. You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending. So, are you ready to change your ending? 15 FEBRUARY IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH! WHAT ARE THE BLACK HISTORY MONTH COLORS AND WHAT DO THEY MEAN? Each year, as Black History Month is celebrated, there are four colors that you’ll likely see incorporated into brands’ logos, Facebook profile picture themes, flags flying outside of homes and businesses or featured in windows, social media content and more. These four colors for Black History Month offer individuals and groups the opportunity to show solidarity, as well as pride, by paying tribute to and honoring the achievements and history of African Americans. Black History Month uses four colors—black, red, green and yellow— to symbolize unity and pride. Each of the four colors has its own distinct meaning and significance. The colors of Black History Month are also the colors of many African flags which have been derived from the Ethiopian flag as well as the Pan-African flag. Each set has three colors; Ethiopia uses the colors red, yellow and green, which are used to represent the rainbow, and the PanAfrican flag contains the colors red, black and green. The Pan-African flag was created in 1920 to represent the unity of African people no matter where they live, and to symbolize Black liberation in the United States. The Ethiopian flag is used by several of the other 53 African countries. Although the Pan-African flag contains the three colors of red, black and green, yellow was borrowed and added to the Black History Month colors from the Ethiopian flag. The four colors are a combination of the two sets of Pan-African colors. Black - Represents the resilient people whose existence as a nation is honored and affirmed by the existence of a flag. Red - Symbolizes the blood of innocent Black lives that has been shed throughout history. Yellow - Stands for optimism, justice and equality for everyone. Green - Symbolizes Africa's rich greenery and other natural resources. Excerpted from: https://parade.com/ living/black-history-month-colors 1. Paul, Acts 23:3 2. Peter, John 13:8 3. This year’s Black History Month theme is “African American and the Arts.” According to the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), this theme “puts into the national spotlight the richness of the past and present with an eye towards what the rest of the twenty-first century will bring.”
