2023 Student Art Show MARCH 30-APRIL 24, 2023 Open Mon-Thu, 11:00-3:00 Lone Star College-Kingwood Art Gallery APA 114 LSC-Kingwood has a thriving Visual Arts department with courses offered in Art Appreciation, Art History, Drawing, Design and Ceramics. Most of our students take an arts course for college credit but our courses are open to community members who are interested in exploring the visual arts for pleasure. Art Appreciation9.7and Art History courses focus on art terminology, analyzing selected art from the beginning of time to today and being able to understand art production from a historical and cultural context. Drawing courses focus on drawing through descriptive, expressive, and conceptual approaches. Students develop their skills in seeing and interpreting a variety of subjects using diverse materials and techniques. Students in 2-D Design learn the fundamental concepts and theories of 2-d design and apply those to the creation of work using a range of materials and techniques. Ceramics courses explore a wide range of ceramic processes including working on the potter’s wheel. The history and cultural significance of the ceramic arts is introduced.
