A Dog's Loss

A Dog's Loss

A Dog's Loss

A story to help children get through grief

By- Emma T. and Frannie A.

Hi Im Skye i'm 4 years old.

I have a dog walker named Chris.

My mom’s name is Bella she is 7. Her mom’s name
is Kate

I have a brother named Soot and a sister named
Luna, my parents are named Rose and Buddy.

Today Chris is taking us to the park to play.

Were finally at the park, we get to go play.

I'm playing on the swings with Luna and Soot
and Buddy is looking for Rose we can’t find her.

Chris is running along the riverside looking at
something.

Rose is in the water!

Chris goes in the water but I think that it is too
late.

Chris is on the phone but I don’t know who he is
talking to. Everyone is crying including Chris.

Chris gets off the phone and a few minutes later
Bella and Kate show up. Bella is crying but Kate
is trying not to.

Kate said she would take her to the animal
hospital but that she is already gone and that
they wouldn't be able to do anything.

Chris kept saying that she wasn’t gone but I
knew she was.

She's not
gone!!

Chris was getting very scared and angry with
himself, he has been like that for a few days.

I haven't seen Rose for a week now, bella came
up to me crying, saying that she was gone and
that she is trying to accept it but it's hard.

No one has cried for a while and everyone i
starting to get better and happier. Im even
happier.

Chris is taking us to the park again and
overcoming his fear but he is now keeping us on
leashes.
