With the 2022/23 season marking the launch of SPURSPLAY – the Club’s

new home of exclusive live and on-demand video - ANDY GREEVES takes
a look at the ways in which Tottenham Hotspur, our players and managers
have featured in television, film and advertising over the years. The series
continues today with a look at light entertainment television shows that our
players and managers have featured on over the years.

Hosted by Noel Edmonds and broad- 59
cast on BBC One from 23 November,
1991 to 26 March, 2000, Noel’s

time show that succeeded The Noel

the height of its popularity, the light
entertainment programme attracted
up to 15 million viewers, with 169
episodes filmed across nine series
as well as 15 specials.

Set in a large house in the fictional
village of Crinkley Bottom, the
show carried a number of features
from The Noel Edmonds Saturday

‘Gotcha Oscar’ (later known simply as a

Many celebrities appeared on the
show, with the likes of Frank Thornton

of ‘Gotcha’s’ – in which a practical joke
was played and filmed by a hidden
camera – included Barbara Windsor,
Carol Vorderman, Kriss Akabusi,
Richard Whiteley and Eddie Large.

player for us. He got on with all the lads as well, a
lovely fellow.”
