The much-travelled Lundstram was born in Liverpool and spent his formative years at 01
Everton, but never made a first-team appearance and instead embarked on a series of
loan spells at the likes of Doncaster Rovers, Blackpool and Scunthorpe United. Released
by Everton in 2014, he signed for Oxford United, and helped them win promotion to
League One in 2015/16. The following season he was named captain and led the club to
the EFL Trophy final. Chris Wilder swooped to sign Lundstram in the summer of 2017 and
he soon became a key man for the Blades, helping them win promotion last season. His
goal against Crystal Palace in August meant he had achieved the rare feat of scoring in
all four divisions of English football. He hit a brace against Burnley last time out.

COLOURS
TTRrue ColoursUE We all have our favourites when it comes to
past Spurs kits and, sometimes, they can evoke
memories of specific games, moments and the
players who wore them. Continuing our series
for the 2019/20 season, Billy Shaw chats to our
players – past and present – to find out what
comes into their minds when they look back at
a selection of our shirts from seasons gone by.
Today, we speak to legendary former captain
and now Club Ambassador, Ledley King…
SPURS AWAY KIT,
1998/99
“I never wore that colour in the first team,” said
Ledley as he examined a picture of our away kit
from the 1998/99 season – a purple number with
discreet white detailing.
“That said, I’m pretty sure I wore it in the youth
team. For some reason, looking at that shirt,
I’m thinking Ramon Vega – I don’t know why he’s
popping into my head! Him and Ruel Fox actually. I
think I’d associate this kit with them – two players
who were in the team in the late-1990s.”
Ledley was only 18 when this kit was in
circulation. He made his senior debut at the
end of that season in a 3-2 defeat at Liverpool,
coming on as a half-time substitute to fill in at
left-back following the sending-off of Mauricio
Taricco. Naturally, with there being no colour clash
with Liverpool’s red, we were in our traditional
Lilywhite and navy blue kit on that occasion.
“I only played that one game for the first team
that season,” confirmed the ex-defender. “There
were occasions where I would have been part
of the squad and I would have travelled with the
team a few times but I don’t ever remember
playing in that kit at senior level – I probably had
it on under my tracksuit a few times!”
