EGRESS FROM BATHROOMS- WATER INFILTRATION

resistant and water tight. All metal surfaces subject to rust or corrosion shall
be coated to inhibit such rust and corrosion, and all surfaces with rust or
corrosion shall be stabilized and coated to inhibit future rust and corrosion.
Oxidation stains shall be removed from exterior surfaces. Surfaces designed
for stabilization by oxidation are exempt from this requirement.

rooms Every bathroom and toilet room shall comply with the ventilation
requirements for habitable spaces as required by Section 403.1, except that
a window shall not be required in such spaces equipped with a mechanical
ventilation system. Air exhausted by a mechanical ventilation system from a
bathroom or toilet room shall discharge to the outdoors and shall not be
recirculated.

the inside of the room without the use of keys or tools. Bars, grilles, grates
or similar devices are permitted to be placed over emergency escape and
rescue openings provided the minimum net clear opening size complies with
the code that was in effect at the time of construction and such devices shall
be releasable or removable from the inside without the use of a key, tool or
force greater than that which is required for normal operation of the escape
and rescue opening.

***Ensure bathrooms have access to egress as per this code and related
codes

Where it is found that the electrical system in a structure constitutes a
hazard to the occupants or the structure by reason of inadequate service,
improper fusing, insufficient receptacle and lighting outlets, improper wiring
or installation, deterioration or damage, or for similar reasons, the code
official shall require the defects to be corrected to eliminate the hazard.

***Ensure outdoor lighting and or wiring are installed correctly and protected
from moisture.

VMC 2012:504.1 General. All plumbing fixtures shall be properly installed and maintained in
Plumbing systems and working order, and shall be kept free from obstructions, leaks and defects
fixtures and be capable of performing the function for which such plumbing fixtures
are designed. All plumbing fixtures shall be maintained in a safe, sanitary
and functional condition.

the subject property will be required. Property owners must comply with the provisions of the USBC/ VA. Maintenance Code and all other applicable
ordinances of the City of Lynchburg. Failure to comply may result in legal action. The list of violations given is not inclusive, and the City reserves
the right to note additional violations and to require their correction whenever such defects are observed.
Appeals Information:
The property owner of the structure or his/her agent may appeal this decision to the Commissioner of Inspections. All appeals must be made in writing
on a form provided by the Inspections Division and submitted to the Commissioner of Inspections within 21days of receipt of this notice. In
accordance with Section 36-106 of the Code of Virginia, and Section 11-9 of the City of Lynchburg violations of the Virginia Uniform Statewide
Building Code and Lynchburg City Code are a misdemeanor with fines up to $2,500.
