Air Jordan XIV

• Year released: 1998
• Designer: Tinker Hatfield
• Most Popular Colorways: White/Black-Varsity Red, Playoffs, White/Varsity Red, White/Columbia Blue
• First Retroed: 2005

• For the Jordan XIVs Hatfield used inspiration from MJ’s Ferrari 550M to create a fast-looking, lower-cut model. The Ferrari-like badge, air
"intakes" and the metal tips on the laces added to the high-tech feel. The shoes helped Mike win his sixth ring and will be remembered on his
feet dragging across the key during his famous step back “final shot” against the Jazz in the NBA Finals. Like the XIs, the XIVs made their debut
early and ended up being the last Jordan we saw MJ lace up rocking a Bulls uniform.

Air Jordan XX9

• Released : 2014
• Original Price : $225
• Released in September 2014 to honor the Year of the Goat, the Air Jordan XX9
• was the lightest ever created in the AJ line and mixed premium elements of aesthetics and technology.
• The revolutionary upper consisted of a performance-woven single piece, designed to eliminate excessive layering. This finish allowed a wide-open

design canvas, which debuted - and continued in some colorways - with an oversized Jumpman logo.
• "It's actually made in a special weaving machine," Hatfield said at the official unveiling on April 17, 2014. "Which does create a web of fibers, and

it all comes together in one sort of seamless process."
• Hatfield designed this upper to allow structure, support, interior comfort, and exterior abrasion resistance in a style inspired by an Italian label

manufacturer. This upper alleviated an issue in previous versions, where the old practice of adding layers could create problem areas.
• "In previous shoes, way back when," Hatfield added, "in order to make a shoe stronger, we would have to add another layer of something else

and then that might create a hotspot, right? I mean, you could feel it."
• The fall release broke tradition for the Jordan brand, which had been releasing mid-winter since the AJ XVI in February 2000.
• The flexible, sock-like feel for which Hatfield aimed in the AJ XX9 came from Flight Web tunnels and strategic panels of stiffer and softer flex

material. These were engineered to enhance natural motion, while webbed straps wrapped the foot and integrated with the laces at the midfoot
to move with the foot.
• A double-lasted heel helped to cushion impact, and articulated padding in the ankle collar added to the premium look as well as the feel.

Air Jordan
Why Not

• Year released: 2018

• Russell Westbrook has to average 12 rebounds per game over the Oklahoma City Thunder’s last four to make history once again. Last year,
Brodie became the first NBA player since Oscar Robertson to average a triple double over an entire season, and he is on the verge of doing it once
again.

• In honor of last year’s historic achievement, Jordan Brand has plans to release a “Triple Double” colorway of the Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 that
utilizes a Thunder-appropriate color scheme. Black makes up for the majority of the upper, while blue and orange adorn its sole unit with a multi-
colored speckle detailing. To further commemorate Westbrook’s place in the history books, “04/09/17” is printed on the left outsole, while
“31/10/10” is featured on the right in honor of its upcoming anniversary. Pairs are scheduled to arrive at Jordan Brand retailers on April 9th with
an MSRP of $125 USD.

• Grab an official look at the sneakers below and be sure to follow the reigning MVP’s quest to a second straight season averaging a triple double.

Air Jordan Future

• Year released: 2014
• Designer: Ben Kirschner

• Let's start with the obvious: The Jordan Future is not an entirely new design. That midsole/outsole combination should be immediately
recognizable as the underpinnings of the Air Jordan XI (complete with carbon fiber plate and full-length Air), and the upper, with its woven
construction and off-center lacing, has a decided NSW/HTM feel. But taken all together, this off-court model does represent something of a new
direction for Jordan.

• The shoe itself simultaneously attracts and deflects attention—the design is simple, but 3M threads run through the upper, and the classic
translucent Jordan XI outsole glows. "That tooling, even though it's almost 20 years old, it's still incredibly modern looking," says Jordan Brand
footwear director David Schecter. "That was the tooling [designer Ben Kirschner] chose for a really reductive, clean, sophisticated modern upper."
Suede hits can be found on the tongue and ankle collar. "The comfort is unbelievable," Schecter says. "It's lightweight, it's really reductive, there's
no overlays, there's not a lot of stuff on the shoe."

• Opinions on this first shoe will be mixed, of course, but that's the way it's supposed to work for any new Jordan. "You want an emotion," says
Schecter. "It's OK to have something polarizing, but you want something." They'll get that.

• "We talk about all the time, honor the past and be faster than the future," Schecter says of Jordan's overall direction. "No pun intended on the
shoe."
