Friday’s annual HCA Unit of Distinction Awards in Nashville. These
departments ranked in the 10% of HCA’s 200+ enterprises on metrics
including quality, safety, staffing effectiveness, patient experience,
education and certifications, retention and turnover.

We are so proud of these extraordinary units:

March of Dimes 2019

The March of Dimes educates medical professionals & the public about
best practices, based on research for mothers and babies. Past research
affecting our practice today include:
- Polio Vaccine
- Folic Acid Vitamins during pregnancy
- Surfactant Therapy to promote infant lung function
- Assigning Apgar scores after birth

The Houston March of Dimes walk will be Sunday April 28th at the
University of Houston campus. Join us & help raise funds to support
these moms & babies.

Have you heard of the Elite Tracer Team?

The Elite Tracer Team is comprised of leaders across our facility who help us maintain survey readiness!

Team members collaborate and round on different units, as if they were a survey team. They are
responsible for surveying the physical environment, assessing the knowledge of staff, and providing
education on policies and processes.

Participating on a Tracer is great practice to show off what you know and will help you feel more
comfortable talking to a surveyor.

• Unsecured medications in unlocked carts.
• Missed opportunities to date opened Glucometer Supplies.
• Evaluation & documentation of pain medication response to interventions.
• Therapeutic duplication recognition and follow up action.
