As I shared last week, want to make sure you all
are aware of a program that our CareNow
facilities are doing. Between now and the end
of August, CareNow will be offering sports
physicals for your kids at the charge of $20.00.

Speaking of sports... How’s everyone been
enjoying the start of the 2019 baseball season?
This is one of the best times of the year to me.

March of Dimes 2019

The March of Dimes educates medical professionals & the public about
best practices, based on research for mothers and babies. Past research
affecting our practice today include:
- Polio Vaccine
- Folic Acid Vitamins during pregnancy
- Surfactant Therapy to promote infant lung function
- Assigning Apgar scores after birth

Participants can view the formulary by logging on to HCArewards.com and entering
RX in the search box. Participants should check the formulary periodically to see if any
changes have been made to how their prescription drugs are classified.

HCA Hope Fund announces record-breaking $50 million in
assistance

“We are pleased to announce that last week the HCA Hope Fund – our employee-run
501(c)(3) charity – reached a historic milestone: $50 million in assistance to our
colleagues in need.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this new record of colleagues helping colleagues,” said John
Steele, senior vice president and chief human resource officer at HCA Healthcare. “We
know that when someone in our HCA Healthcare family is in need, we want to help. And
for the last 14 years, the way that we’ve been able to help was by sharing through the
HCA Hope Fund.”
The HCA Hope Fund came to life in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, where
colleagues gifted more than $4 million in assistance to members of their work family
members affected by the storm. However, natural disasters are just one hardship HCA
Healthcare employees face.
Every day our colleagues across the company reach out for help because they are
facing disasters of all types—illness, injury, domestic violence, the death of a loved one or
any one of a number of unavoidable circumstances.
Thanks to thousands of employee donations, our colleagues and their families get the
help they need at some of the most difficult times in their lives.” Continued on next page.

“’I am moved by the kindness and support that my HCA Healthcare family offered when
things were so overwhelming for me,’ said Christine Comerford, a registered nurse at
affiliate St. David’s HealthCare, whose husband was hospitalized out of state with a
medical emergency. ‘Just feeling that I was not alone, and that my fellow workers have
my back — that’s huge.’

Stories like Christine’s and countless others show the impact and generosity of more than
30,000 HCA Healthcare donors.

‘The Hope Fund is a natural extension of our desire to help others,’ said Hope Fund
President Joe Flynn. ‘You hear about a colleague struggling with circumstances beyond
their control, and there is this urge to help: the Hope Fund really gives form to that desire
we all have to band together and support each other in those critical moments in life.’
