Relation:

Definition: A set of ordered pairs (x, y)
Characteristics: Ordered pairs

Function:
Definition: A relation that assigns EXACTLY one “y”
with each “x” (x only has one partner)
Characteristics: EVERY function is a relation.

Example:

1. Cut out the function/not function sheet.
2. Cut apart the cards and sort them into function or not

3. Check your answers, then glue the cards onto the

4. Glue into your notebooks.

Relative Maximum and Minimum

The relative maximum is the highest y-value of a particular
region.

The relative minimum is the lowest y-value of a particular
region.

Zeros, Roots, Solutions , x-intercepts

X-intercepts, roots, solution and zeros are all names that
describe the x-value of a graph whose corresponding y-value
is zero.
