Greenway Forest

My name is Jaccob, and today I thought it was a
beautiful day to go on a walk through Greenway
Forest. It was a good name because
everything,(well almost everything) was green!
The trees, bushes, and the grass. There were a
few things that weren’t green though. Like the
berries on the bushes, and the bark on the trees.

So, I packed a bag to go. I was walking around
when I saw a beautiful maple tree. I decided to
take a seat right below it and read my book.

I was very sleepy because I had just finished six
days of consistent work. It was also very quiet,
so I started to fall asleep.

Then, all of a sudden I woke up in a fright
because I heard something in the bushes! I
thought it was something really big, but then I
realized it was not that loud. So, then I thought it
was a rabbit or something small.

But, it was taking forever to get out of the bush so
I thought if I moved the bush a little bit then it
could come out easier. After I moved the bush, it
still didn’t come out so I lifted it up a bit and saw
something that I did not think it would be.

It was a small, bright green turtle. He was trying
to get out of the bush because he was stuck. He
looked at me with thankful eyes.

“Why were you in that bush?” I asked. He looked
at me, turned his head, and walked away. So, I
decided to follow him. Maybe he was leading me
somewhere?

After a while of walking, we came across a little
hole in the ground that made a tunnel underneath
a rock. I lifted the rock and saw three more turtles
but they were babies.

Then, I realized that he was just trying to find food
for them. I remembered that I had packed a few
carrots and an apple in my bag if I got hungry. I
was not, so I sliced up the apple and gave it to
them.

After they were done eating, they all jumped up
into my lap and fell asleep. Now that I didn’t want
to move and wake them up, and now I was really
tired from walking, I fell asleep too.

After we woke up, the sun was starting to set.
So, I started packing up my things and took the
turtles off of me. They look so sad sitting there
and I couldn't leave them because they could
barely even find food so I grabbed them all and
went home.

When I got home I saw my old fish tank, I was
huge. I cleaned it up, put decorations in, I made it
very comfy for them and put them all in. They
looked very happy in there. But I thought it was
missing something, something that would tie it all
together. Maybe they need something from the
pet store. NO I know, they need something from
Greenway Forest, I thought.

I went back to the forest the next day and luckily
I had work off. I collected some twigs, leaves,
and bark. I thought it would make it really special
if I took the rock that they had as their home
before I took them, hehe. I grabbed extra leaves
so that they could eat them if they wanted.

Then, I started to travel back home. This time I
was smart though, I rode my bike.

When I got home I put all the things I grabbed at
the forest and put it in the tank. It looked so
good, and I loved how it looked. The turtles liked
it too. They walked around exploring all of it.
After they found the heat lamp above their rock
they fell asleep, and I went to go take a nap too.
