QUOTES
QUOTES ABOUT EMPATHY
”The future belongs to a different kind of person with a very different kind of mind - creators and empathizers, pattern recognizers and meaning makers.”
“Never take someone’s feelings for granted.
You never know how much courage it took for them to show.”
“Let me hold the door for you.
I may have never walked a mile in your shoes, but I can see that your soles are worn and your strength is torn under the weight of a story I have never lived before.
So let me hold the door for you.
After all you’ve walked through,
It’s the least I can do.”
“Empathy is seeing with eyes of another, listening with the ears of another, and feeling with the heart of another.”

TED TALK
EMPATHY, A SOFT SKILL OR NOT?
Empathy often gets mistaken as a soft skill when it comes to leadership, but in reality, it can make you a great leader.
First of all, you should know that empathy is a quality we all have, that allows us to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes and try to experience what they are going through.
There are three ways to empathize.
You can empathize by thinking about being in someone else's position (If I was in his/her place, what would I do?), this is called cognitive empathy and makes us better communicators.
Another way to empathize is to share your feelings with another person, which is called emotional empathy and helps us build emotional connections with others.
The third way goes above & beyond understanding others and sharing your feelings, it pushes us to help the person, in whatever way we can.
This is called compassionate empathy.
Obviously, it would be better to ask a person directly, but imagining what that person could be going through would be helpful too.
Regardless of what type of empathy you are using (cognitive or emotional), perhaps action is the most important.
This is where compassionate empathy comes in.
All that understanding of someone’s situation should turn into compassion and deeds to help and comfort that person.
Empathy in action is understanding your colleague’s troubles and offering to help.
It is considering a team member’s perspectives on something and making or accepting a recommendation that helps the group achieve more.
As the saying goes, “People may not remember your actions, but they will remember how you made them feel.”
Through empathy, people might forget about what you did to help them, but they will certainly remember how you made them happy and contribute to experiences that will be memorable in the long term.
By building strong relationships with others, this will not only cause positive outcomes to them, but also to you.
Use empathy to discuss ideas, connect with colleagues, achieve more as a team, and expand your perspectives.
Is empathy still a soft skill to you?

READ TO LEAD
Oliver Twist is a great book to read; the novel was written by Charles Dickens in 1839 in England.
It is about a boy, who was an orphan since birth, and his name is Oliver Twist.
Oliver spent most of his childhood at a “child farm” (orphanage) along with too many kids and too little food.
The farm was located about 70 miles outside London.
One night, after getting his portion of gruel, Oliver asks for more.
This is unacceptable and makes the employer (of the orphanage) angry, and then Oliver is sent to work as an apprentice to an undertaker.
This is where Oliver’s adventure starts; in the end, he is finally treated well and becomes the luckiest orphan in London .
It is a lovely book, and has over a hundred reviews!
I hope you enjoy it, because reading it will take you back in time.

READ TO LEAD
This book is about a boy called James Henry Trotter who lives with his wicked Aunts Sponge and Spiker after he loses his parents in a horrible rhinoceros accident.
One day, he meets an old man in the woods and he gives James some magical crystals that promised to end his problems.
The magical crystals accidentally grow into a giant peach. James manages to climb inside the giant fruit and rolls away from his despicable aunts to a whole new life.
On his way, he meets new people, reaches new places, and most importantly, finds new ways.
He also made new friends such as the Grasshopper, the Centipede, Miss Spider, Silkworm, Ladybird, Glowworm, and the Earthworm.
This book is an all-time favorite bedtime story for children and parents around the world.
The story is written in a very humorous way that the children of all ages can enjoy it.
I give this book 5 stars because it teaches us that good deed bring you good things.

To get his peace back, Shrek makes a deal with Lord Farquaad to rescue a princes hidden on a tower far away from the palace, so she could be Lord Farquaad’s bride.
However, what Shrek didn’t expect, was to find friendship, and to develop feelings for the princess.
I’m other words, Shrek couldn’t even dream about what this journey would bring and the changes that wait for him!

One day as Carl Fredricksen a 78 year old balloon
salesman comes back home, he discovers that his house (that he built with his wife) was going to be demolished.
He then ties hundreds of balloons on his house so he could save memories and fulfill his wife’s (which sadly had died) and his dream trip.
What he didn’t expect, is that right after his house flew into the sky, a little Boy Scout (Russel), which he had previously met, was actually in the house with him.
Their journey is full of ups and downs.
In their journey, they also find a pet dog in which became their friend for ever.
Even though Russel and Carl did not get along in the beginning, they became friends after they had to

work together so they could reach the final destiny.

SEWA DAY
As you all know, we organized an event called “Streets of Charity” in honor of SEWA Day last week on October 6, 2019.
SEWA Day is an annual event which is a volunteering initiative that encourages schools and pupils to reach out in to their local community and be the change.
It teaches us that not only can we donate money, we can donate our time.
This event was a huge success and surpassed our goal of 1,000 kilograms of rice by a whopping total of 3,000 kilograms.
This huge amount of rice we donated is enough to feed 15,000 people and is being sent to a Labor Camp.

OVERVIEW
There was a numerous number of stalls, all providing fun, enjoyable activities such as carnival games, an internet café, and a photobooth.
The event was held at the PE Hall and lasted the whole school day, with allotted times for each year to come and take part in our many activities.
Everyone who entered had a happy look on their face, and had fun taking part in our stalls with their friends.
Students and teachers alike enjoyed having to experience our charity event and turned out to be very successful in both happiness and our Rice Bucket goal.
Our event even got recognized by the founder of SEWA Day!
