Remember, these designs used to be done by hand! A one-of-a-kind design will always be just that, one-of-a-kind. Our Flat Carve process removes the polish from the design area, as well as cuts lines and removes some surrounding stone. When accompanied by a contrasting lithochrome enamel, it gives the appearance of depth and produces the desired image. Our Shape Carve is essentially the same, with the addition of removing material by hand to produce the 3-dimensional image desired. We can take an image provided by a customer (provided it is a good quality image) and input it into our design program where we can then custom create a CAD design of this image. Sandblasting requires mathematical precision. In the given example, we can see where some of the finer details have to be omitted due to the mathematical constraints of the sandblasting process. The smaller the image, the less detail that can be incorporated.
