Uniquely personalize your surgical
instruments and medical equipment

Addressing an age-old problem:

Medical professionals must safely maintain their surgical instruments. Old powder coating and taping
techniques that have been used for decades to color identify stainless steel surgical instruments and
medical equipment have become outdated. These passé methods became challenging, and can end up
costing you thousands – because old color marking methods typically crack, chip, peel and wear down
with regular use. The medical industry needed a viable solution to this problem. The FARBTEK®system
is today’s forerunning method used in the medical industry.

The FARBTEK®solution is
being used by thousands
of medical professionals.

Perma-Plugs™ – A Variety of Combinations:
The FARBTEK®color plug ID system is permanent, and offers a variety
of colors. Our Perma-Plugs™ are an exceptional identification method. We
embed round, color plugs directly in to stainless steel medical instruments
and equipment, and the fully-encased plugs feel flush with the instrument’s
surface. One color, or your desired unique plugs’ color combination, aids in
readily identifying your medical equipment and surgical instruments.

Liquid ID Color Bands & Laser Engraving: Dr. Smith
When your surgical instruments and medical equipment are uniquely
identifiable with personalized color-band and custom laser engraving,
there's no mistaking to whom or where they belong. The many options
to add permanently engraved, color-accented names, logos, custom
shapes and other uniquely identifiable markings with the FARBTEK®
liquid ID system are practical – and affordable.

Permanent Barcode ID – Laser Engraved: 5
To quickly identify and track surgical instruments and other items integral
to your practice, the FARBTEK® method is unsurpassed. By permanently
engraving a Data Matrix barcode in any medical equipment item, you
increase safety and efficiency – and can literally save thousands of
dollars by tracking your equipment.

Plasma Melted Coating™:
Plasma Melted Coating™ – The new way of powder coating that is also
biocompatible! This superior computer-controlled system is technically-unique,
pressureless, and lasts 2x longer than older coating methods that are now
considered obsolete. In a dust-proof processing chamber, our process alters
the coating powder in to an electrostatically-charged dense cloud, which
makes it adhere uniformly to the item’s selected areas. The process is fast,
energy-efficient, and there is nearly zero powder loss. The result is an evenly-
thin, coated surface – that’s smooth to the touch and of the highest quality,
with no functionality restrictions.

Plasma Melted Coating™ uses no primers or chemicals (that can cause
metal pitting and corrosion), is validated for autoclave use, and can be applied
to all types of small parts: insulation coatings of medical HF-instruments,
electric stators and rotors, insulators, winding bodies, ferrite cores,
conductor rails, technical coatings with Teflon®, Halar®, ceramics or
talc, and is applicably-safe for food and medical utensils.

FARBTEK® permanent sizing ID allows Scrub Techs, Nurses and Surgeons to quickly identify
and utilize the correct-size instrument every time. The size ID's are laser-engraved and filled with
our proprietary Liquid Color ID solution, that will last for the lifetime of the instrument. The common
marking method of topically laser etching instruments is passé – as etching will, in turn, become less
prominent and can be compromised after just a few months of reprocessing. Quick, permanent
identification of instruments and equipment can literally save you thousands of dollars.

All of our custom color ID marking systems can be applied to your surgical instruments and other
medical equipment via the FARBTEK®methods.

New Method

Datamatrix — PERMANENT
Bar Code Liquid System

How it works

After creation of the Data Matrix code, the code on the component (the instrument or piece of medical equipment)
is typically verified using specialized camera equipment and software. Verification ensures the code conforms
to the relevant standards, and ensures it will be readable for the lifetime of the component. After the component
enters service, the Data Matrix code can then be read by a reader camera, which decodes the Data Matrix data.
This information can then be used for a number of purposes: in the case of hospital use, it is mostly used for
inventory and repair tracking.

code symbology specification. Data Matrix
is a matrix (Color Liquid System) bar code
which may be printed as a square or
rectangular symbol made up of individual
dots or squares. This representation is an
ordered grid of dark and light dots bordered
by a finder pattern. The finder pattern is
partly used to specify the orientation and
structure of the symbol. The data is encoded
using a series of dark or light dots based
upon a pre-determined size.

Missing Instruments?
Never Again...

With our FARBTEK® Instrument
Identification System you can also
plug the tray with the same colors
as the instruments. This way there
will be no question as to which
instruments belong in a tray.

The new way of powdercoating

Incredibly versatile, we apply a uniquely- smooth coating
to any part of an instrument – in a wide variety of colors.

How it works

quickcoating™ – the new way of powder coating!
Our process is a plasma-coating that is virtually melted
on to your instruments – a method far superior that lasts
2x longer than older (obsolete) powder-coating systems.
The result is a fine, uniformly-coated surface that has a
smooth-to-the-touch “feel”. Our process does not affect
or impede instrument functionality, and has been tested
to exceed 1,000 autoclave cycles.

Process

This pressureless system based on the principle
of electrostatic charge of the coating powder.
However, unlike the fluidized bed, the dense cloud
of charged powder is located in a dust-proof process
chamber. The result of the computer controlled 10-20
seconds' process is an entirely and evenly coated
surface of the highest quality.

Applications

quickcoating™ can be applied to all types of
instruments and small parts: insulation coatings
of medical HF-instruments, electric stators and rotors,
insulators, winding bodies, ferrite cores, conductor rails,
technical coatings with Teflon®, Halar®, ceramics or talc,
and is applicably-safe for food and medical utensils.

The quickcoating™ machines are engineered and
made in Germany. quickcoating™ has over 25 years
of experience in the field of compressed-air-free
powder coating systems.

Our quickcoating™ unit is a sealed, pressureless
computer-controlled system that allows the coating

powder to uniformly adhere to the item
in the unit’s processing chamber.

12

Plasma Melting Coating System

The newest, tested and safe method for custom ID-marking.

The most advanced method of powder coating!

Lasts 2x longer than old methods, and validated to withstand autoclave use.

The quickcoating™ process is far superior to old powder coating methods that use primers, which can affect the
long-term integrity and lifespan of your surgical instruments. Developed in Germany, this process has been proven
to provide efficient and universally-even coating results, and is compatible with all types of powders. With the
quickcoating™ processing unit, the possibilities are endless – and the results are outstanding.

¤ No glues, adhesives, or chemicals used
¤ Does not impede intended functionality or feel of instrument
¤ Completely biocompatible
¤ Surpassed 1000 Cycles of autoclave testing
