Ajanta Caves

Architectural Design and Features

30 Ajanta caves are famous for their early Buddhist

temple architecture. Each cave opens up into grand

halls, bedecked from floor to ceiling in detailed

depiction. The architecture of the cave is unique

because it reflects the ever-improving proficiency

of craftsmen, educated in an architectural style

already highly developed but unfamiliar with the

rock-cut medium. The Ajanta Caves follow the

Cathedral-style architecture found in still older

rock-cut cave carvings of ancient India, such as the

Lomas Rishi Cave of the Ajivikas near Gaya in Bihar

dated to the 3rd century BCE.

Ajanta Caves

Materials used for construction

Materials used-a rough plaster of clay, cow dung,
Significance of the structure
and rice husks were pressed onto the rough cave

walls. This was then coated with a lime paste to

create a smooth working surface. The dark outlines of

the figures were then added followed by a pallet of

only 6 colors

While the main purpose of the caves was to celebrate the glory of

Gautama Buddha's life and achievements, they also provide an

important insight into the Buddhist life and belief system and the

reflection of its values in art. In many ways, the Ajanta caves

were a watershed in subcontinental architecture.

Hydrophonic Farming

Aarav Chauhan Benefits of Hydroponic Farming Anay
Abhuday Saves Space - Plants grown in soil need to spread their roots in order to find water and all the
Neetika

nutrients they need to survive in Hydroponic systems, roots don’t need to spread
because water and nutrients are delivered right to them.

Water Conservation - Field farming uses so much water because so much of it is lost through

evaporation but Hydroponic systems use about 10 times less water

Fewer Chemicals - Hydroponic systems are highly controlled so there’s no risk of weeds taking

over your garden.

Faster Growth - Crops grow faster in hydroponic systems because they receive an ideal amount

of nutrients and, if grown indoors, have less environmentally induced stress.

Grow Indoors - Another benefit of hydroponic farming is that it’s easy to do indoors.
Growing indoors comes with its own benefits such as the ability to grow year-round,

temperature and climate control, and fewerpests.

Healthier Plants - In hydroponic farming, plants grow healthier than in soil.Plus, plants don’t

have to spread their roots out in search of nutrients so they get to spend more energy
on growing.

History of Basuri

The origins of Bansuri, as a musical instrument, may be traced back to primitive times. It is

believed that, once when wind was blowing through a termite eaten bamboo, a sweet

sound emanated from the piece of bamboo. A man, with some degree of intellect,

understood the mechanism and started blowing air into the piece of bamboo. Thus, the

Bansuri was discovered in this manner.

Another major example of the usage of Bansuri is that of Lord Krishna. It is believed that
