In the recent election in Thailand, there was a political party that promoted a policy of distributing digital money to Thai citizens aged 16+ through e-wallets. This cause much criticism and confusion, regarding the understanding of the term “digital money.” Some groups mistakenly interpreted it as referring to digital currency or Cryptocurrency, which is significantly different from the original intention. First, it is important to understand the difference between these two terms. Cryptocurrency or digital currency refers to a virtual currency that basically operates on the public block chain, such as Bitcoin, under the concept of decentralization. There is no central authority managing or controlling it. A Digital Currency or digital money refers to a currency that operates within the central bank or fiat currency, such as the Thai Baht or US Dollar, but it exists in digital form rather than physical form. A clear example is digital yuan issued by the central bank of China, which is not printed as physical banknotes but is directly sent to the e-wallets of people. In this regard, Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) is considered a part of Digital Currency that has the main purpose of transforming the fundamental financial infrastructure into a digital format to reduce financial costs and drive the country towards a cashless society. One important misconception between these two technologies is that Digital Currency or CBDC could disrupt to Cryptocurrency. This is because these two technologies are being used in separate and distinct ways. Users of Cryptocurrency typically prefer not to be under the traditional centralized banking system, whereas the user or individual of CBDC operate by Central bank still desire to use the conventional financial system but in a digital form. In addition, the existing of CBDC, which operates on a Private Blockchain or a limited blockchain access in specific countries that differs from Public Blockchain like Bitcoin or Ethereum that allow anyone to access via internet. In some countries where digital assets are legally recognized and businesses are licensed, it is now possible to use fiat currency to buy and sell cryptocurrencies. The existing of CBDC does not mean that the general public will have direct and increased access to Cryptocurrency. In summary, the CBDC does not have both positive and negative implications for Cryptocurrency. However, some countries have started exploring the use of Public Blockchain as the underlying infrastructure for CBDC. Especially, international transactions, where research have shown potential cost reductions in operations. Some believe that Cryptocurrency cannot replace Digital Currency, but it can serve as an alternative financial system. For example, it can be used for cross-border transactions. Both systems have their strengths and weaknesses, so it is not a matter of one disrupting the other. Cryptocurrency and Digital Currency are different because Cryptocurrency operates in a decentralized manner, while Digital Currency still operates on a centralized basis. However, both formats are based on digital systems. I-SMART
Increase the humidity level in the bedroom because sleeping in a room with very low humidity dry air can cause dryness of the respiratory tissues. Some individuals may face swelling and narrowing of the airways, leading to eventual snoring. Snoring occurs when the muscles in the neck relax during sleep causing the throat to narrow. This leads to increased effort in breathing as the air passage becomes restricted. When the airflow becomes limited to a certain point, the intensified breath causes the tissues within the respiratory system to vibrate, resulting in the sound of snoring. Snoring can be caused by various factors, such as the blockage of the airway due to the relaxation of muscles within the respiratory system, including the tongue, uvula, soft palate, and throat, or it can also be caused by a decrease in lubrication within the respiratory system, leading to dryness and swelling, of the airway, then snoring will occur when breathing. Weight control: Obesity is one of the main causes of snoring because accumulated fat in the throat narrows the airway causing it to become smaller. Additionally, fat around the chest makes breathing more difficult and requires more energy for respiration. Exercising: helps strengthen the muscles that support the airway, preventing them from becoming weak. When sleeping, exercising helps keep the tissues inside the mouth from sagging and obstructing the airway. Adjust your sleeping position: in a way that prevents mouth breathing. You can sleep on your side with your elbows bent, using one hand to support your chin and keep your mouth closed. Alternatively, you can use a pillow to support your back and prevent you from rolling onto your back. Raise your head higher. If sleeping on your side is not comfortable, try to sleep on your back and use a small pillow to support the upper part of your neck. Raise your head slightly higher from the bed to prevent your tongue from falling back into your throat, which can cause snoring. Keep the bed clean. Try to eliminate factors that can trigger asthma and allergies such as dust mites and animal fur, which are one of the causes of snoring, Men have a higher incidence of snoring compared to women, especially those who are overweight, elderly, suffer from allergies or nasal congestion, work night shifts, or engage in excessive physical exercise, alcohol consumption, smoking, and taking sleep-inducing medications can cause snoring. If the narrowing of the throat persists, it can lead to temporary blockage, causing s sleep apnea. If anyone has these symptoms, it is advisable to consult a medical professional. If left untreated. it may lead to other health issues such as high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and problems with close relationships. Anyone who has followed these tips and still hasn’t seen any improvement or if their snoring significantly impacts their quality of life, should consult a doctor. They can provide personalized advice and appropriate treatment options based on individual needs. 1 5 6 7 2 3 4 I-SMART Try to avoid having a stuffy nose before bedtime. There have been reports that consuming durian along with coffee or energy drinks can cause symptoms such as headaches, nausea, indigestion, and discomfort. Additionally, these beverages also contain high amounts of sugar. Hence, it is not recommended to consume these drinks with durian. Many people don’t know that consuming durian along with beer, wine, or alcoholic beverages should be strictly avoided because durian can reduce the activity of the ALDH enzyme responsible for metabolizing alcohol. It may enhance the toxicity of alcohol, leading to undesirable symptoms such as flushed face, dizziness, vomiting, rapid breathing, and in severe cases, it can cause heart failure and even death. Moreover, both durian and alcohol provide a high amount of energy and are quickly absorbed. This accelerates the body’s energy expenditure, raising the internal body temperature significantly. Alcohol also has diuretic effects, leading to dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and elevated blood sugar levels, which can be extremely dangerous. 2. Carbonated drinks, high-sugar fruits, and sweets Did you know that durian contains a high amount of sugar and energy? Just one durian seed (approximately 40 grams) contains as much as 18 grams of sugar (the recommended daily sugar intake is no more than 24 grams for adults and 16 grams for children and the elderly). It also provides a significant amount of energy, around 60 kilocalories. Most people don’t eat just one seed of durian, right? Consuming durian in excess can lead to unnecessary high sugar and energy intake. Especially when consumed together with carbonated drinks, high-sugar fruits, and sweets, it will further elevate the sugar levels in our blood. This can be particularly dangerous for person with diabetes or heart conditions, potentially leading to severe complications and even death. For the normal person, it may cause uncomfortable symptoms such as bloating, indigestion, and impaired digestion. If not burned off through physical activity, the excess energy can be converted into fat, leading to weight gain. Therefore, it is advisable not to eat durian with high-sugar foods and beverages. 3. Coffee or energy drinks The aforementioned information is important to know before consuming durian. If consumed inappropriately, it can pose a potential risk to health, especially for individuals with preexisting medical conditions. However, it’s important to note that durian is not a prohibited food and can still be consumed. It should be consumed properly and responsibly to ensure safety and promote good health. For those who have chronic conditions such as kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure, should be exercised when consuming durian, and avoid excessive consumption. If you eat it too frequently it can affect blood sugar and fat levels in the bloodstream. What should you not eat with durian? 1. Alcohol
