A green economy is a way to survive global warming. The United Nations recently issued a climate change warning, pointing out that the world is at the end of the global warming era and that it’s entering the global boiling era. The fact that July 2023 had the hottest three weeks on record underscores the need to encourage all countries to transition to a greener economy and solve the problem of sustainable surroundings before environmental problems become major economic and financial problems. According to the Bank of Thailand (BoT), entrepreneurs in the manufacturing and transportation sectors have adapted to the green economy trend more than in the past. This is because it is a sector that emits greenhouse gases higher than other sectors, including many trading partners that are beginning to enact laws to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) of the European Union. This is putting pressure on businesses to improve their production processes to be more environmentally friendly to compete in the European market. In addition, fuel and energy costs are also rising. This causes businesses to adjust to using more alternative energy to reduce such costs as well. Many companies have now clearly announced carbon reduction targets. We see more investment in installing solar panels and building hybrid power plants within buildings and factories, and in the future, businesses are likely to invest in additional energy storage systems if battery costs come down. Some companies that have not invested in installing solar panels and are concerned about reducing environmental problems can choose to buy electricity produced from renewable energy. They will receive a renewable energy production credit certificate (REC: Renewable Energy Certificate) for use as evidence for sustainability reports and rankings of leading companies. I-Smart
However, sustainability investments are often capital-intensive and take a long time to reach breakeven. This resulted in only large manufacturing businesses seriously adapting, while SME businesses recovered from the impact of COVID-19 more slowly and with less capital. As for service businesses such as hotels, they are still not considered worth investing in. This is because customers are not yet ready to pay higher service fees if hotels switch to more cost-effective, environmentally conscious products. But many hotels have begun to adapt to use resources more efficiently and conserve the environment, such as by separating waste, campaigning for customers not to change towels every day to reduce water use, etc. Clearly, one of the key barriers to the transition to a green economy is capital. Because of the guidelines for managing environmental problems, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions (Mitigation) and adapting to climate change (Adaptation), such as creating a database and switching to green technology, high capital is required. The financial sector is therefore an important mechanism for allocating funds to the business sector to invest in adapting to a green economy. But today’s understanding of environmentally friendly activities may differ from sector to sector. This causes the allocation of funds to be inconsistent and insufficient. Therefore, the BoT has defined and grouped economic activities that consider the environment (Thailand Taxonomy) to provide a central standard for reference and mutual understanding. Financial institutions can use it to design financial products and services and use it in the risk assessment process to help support businesses towards a greener economy. Solving environmental problems requires serious action and cooperation from all sectors because climate change, which is intensifying today, is a result of the past. If we don’t speed up to adapt and solve the problem today, the crisis will only get worse in the future. It may reach the point where the ecosystem has become irreversibly worse. The government sector should have an agency responsible for implementing environmental sustainability and have a clear long-term environmental control policy. The business sector must recognize the importance and urgency of investing in the transition to a green economy. At the same time, the financial sector must be ready to support investment to help drive the Thai economic and social system towards sustainability in a timely manner because “doing business as usual is not an option” in this era of a heated world. Macroeconomic Department Information Bank of Thailand Global Boiling In addition, some companies are beginning to collect carbon credit data on operational activities. It is believed that in the future, trading partners will give more importance to including products and equipment that are more environmentally conscious, such as employee uniforms made from recycled materials, which is an environmentally friendly product
5 Things to Know Before an Installment Payment. Buying a car is a big deal. It requires a lot of money. If we have enough money, we can purchase it in cash without paying interest. If not, we need to purchase a car by installment or installment payment. When the installment payment is completed, the car will immediately belong to the lessee. This is different from the leasing method which is basically to rent a car. In the leasing agreement, there is a special option to purchase a car at a special price. The lessee can decide whether to purchase or not. But before starting to pay for a car, we must prepare to deal with various issues or expenses that arise. What should we do if we cannot make the installment payment? Is the interest on installment payments expensive? And how many car installments do I have to pay to refinance? We have the answers to frequently asked questions Check the credit bureau’s history. Are we on the blacklist? 1. 2. Prepare documents for issuing a car. Before going to the showroom to buy a car, we must prepare ourselves first. We must look at our credit history to see if we have any bad records with the credit bureau, such as by not paying credit card payments? Borrowing a personal loan and not pay off the debt or used O/D but did not put the money into the account, etc. If you have a bad record, the matter must be resolved with the credit bureau first, and you must have a clean record for at least than 2 years or more before you can start making car instalment payments. Or if you want to buy a car at all, you must bring the credit bureau’s letter to submit to the bank or finance company where you will apply for a loan. Then place a down payment of approximately 40% or more, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the individual. If you want a car, it’s a big deal, requiring a lot of money. In general, a lump sum may be purchased with cash, often paying interest if there is no lump sum and must be used by leasing or having to use a car in installments and repay the loan in full according to the contract. We will rent to buy immediately, which is different from the leasing method whereby the car is rented in which the decision to purchase special options in the car is given at a special price that the renter can decide to purchase. If you have no bad history or a clean credit rating, you can start preparing the important documents you need to purchase and apply for a car loan. The documents required for full-time employees or self employed professionals will be slightly different. Copy of ID card and 3 copies of house registration Payroll for the past 6 months (carbon slip); if not available, proof of salary is required. Bank statement where salary is credited for the past 6 months to see your ability to repay debt. Please check your updated account statement (past 6 weeks) that you can request from the bank. I-Share
3. The bigger the down payment, the better. The down payment is the cash invested when we decide to buy a car, which is the first part of buying a car. After deducted from the cost of the car, this is the amount of money that we must borrow or apply for a loan. The bank or finance company will take the remaining amount and multiply it by the loan interest percentage to calculate the installment payment amount that must be paid per month. That means the bigger the down payment. The lower the monthly payment burden, or, in other words, the higher the down payment, the lower the installments. But if the down payment is low, the installments are high.” If you make a high down payment from the beginning, it will be beneficial. This is because the interest on a car loan is fixed. But if you close the account and pay all outstanding installments, you will receive a progressive discount on the accrued interest. The renter must reduce the interest on the renter by not less than 60% in the case of paying more than 1/3 of the installment but not more than 2/3 of the total installment. The renter must reduce the interest on the renter by not less than 70%, and in the case of paying installments of more than 2/3 of the total installment, the renter must reduce the interest on the renter by 100% or charge no interest. However, paying for a car in installments is different from paying for a house, in which the interest can be reduced. But there are caveats. If you choose to make a down payment of less than 20% of the car price, you will need to have a guarantor, or if your income is less than twice the car payment, there must be one person involved with the purchase to make it easier to get financing 4. The shorter the repayment time, the better the effect. In addition to the down payment amount, another factor that affects the calculation of interest is the number of installments. The longer we pay installments, the higher the interest rate. Most of the popular installment periods are around 48 months (about 4 years) or 60 months (about 5 years). If it’s longer, the interest will be higher as well. Causing you to have to pay much more than the actual price for no reason The faster the installments are paid off, the lower the interest rate. If you choose to pay in installments for 48 months, installments for 1-4 years use the same interest rate. It is clear that 4 years is the most comfortable period for paying installments. However, you must also see that the monthly installment amount is acceptable for you. 5. Car insurance (voluntary sector, levels 1–5) Although the law does not require cars to have voluntary insurance, it does require compulsory insurance (Act). But making a car loan with both new and old financing will allow customers to get voluntary car insurance. It is important to consider the age of the car, for example, if applying for a new car loan in the first year. You will need to buy type 1 voluntary car insurance to be able to get approval for the loan. The coverage of voluntary car insurance will cover the insured’s car in the event of damage, loss, or fire, according to the type of voluntary insurance applied. This type of coverage is not included in the insurance policy after the car has been purchased for one year. We can choose to change insurance companies ourselves. Buying a car is not as difficult as you think, but when you have a car, you must see what other expenses are there. We must see if we can accept it because, besides the burden of monthly car installments, there are also other expenses such as gas and expressway fees that increase every day, parking fees in case there is no regular parking space, maintenance fees, car tax renewal fees, and car insurance costs that must be paid every year. If we think we can happily manage the costs, we will be happy with owning the car. Source: Krungsri The COACH
