Mental Health Awareness Month
During Mental Health Awareness Month the Junior and Senior
Executive Leadership hope you are staying well and safe!
Mental Health Awareness Month is all about taking the time to
notice not everyone may be at their 100%, however we shouldn't
judge them for that! If you are strugging feel free to contact
anyone from JE/SE Leadership, or someone trusted! If you aren't
sure who to contact you may also react on our frequent discord
mental health check-ins!

Make sure you are staying hydrated and healthy! Here are some
apps you can use to help out!
Water Reminder Breathly
This is a good app for This is a great and easy app
reminding yourself to stay to take some time to breathe
hydrated throughout the day!
and pause! It also has
reminders to help you out!
How you can support:
If you are struggling, please tell a trusted friend that you are comfortable with. You may
react to our check ins that we post regularly to make sure everyone is staying safe, not just
on our base but in real life. Mental illness is REAL, and we want to help in whatever way we
can. We are so proud of everyone for making it each day, that is an accomplishment in
itself. But what if you don't struggle with mental illnesses? What if you do but don't know
how to support a friend? Read below.
1.Try to Learn about the mental illness your friend has, its signs and
symptoms. Don't pretend to know all, this can just be useful to
effectively supporting a friend with what they go through.
2. Don’t assume you know what the person needs. Ask how you can
help. Be a genuine active listener.
3. Encourage self care, sometimes someone who deals with mental
illnesses may find it hard to keep up with the basic necessities of life.
Please check in with your friend as much as possible and encourage
self care always.
4. Make sure that you're keeping up with your own basic needs and
mental health. It's very easy to get so caught in trying to help our
friends, that we neglect our own needs.
5. Be an approachable person. Let your friend know they can always
reach out. When they do, try to approach the conversation with a
caring attitude, don't tell them to "get over it" or shrug them off in any
way.
"I'll be the one to build you up, build you up. I'll be the one
to never doubt, never doubt. I'll be the one to hold your
hand, I'll be the one to understand." -Kim Taylor

Interview with the IC of the Biweekly;
Xhoforreal
How do you feel about being awarded ICOTBW?
"I enjoyed winning it the 1st time since it showed that amount of
effort that I put through into HDA not just through promotions
alone, but through various activities (pay help, hosting events,
transfer, EA stuff, and etc). Getting to showcase a bot of yourself
is amazing since you get to sit with founders in the lobby. But like
I said, I enjoyed winning it the 1st time because it was special to
me."
Do you think that you being ICOTBW encouraged you to keep
striving for greatness in HDA?
"Not really. Although I would say that having that iC of the
biweekly status did add some motivation for me but not by a
large margin. It was just bonus for me at that point since even
before I got that, I was given enough power to take on more
responsibilities in HDA."
Do you have any advice/encouragement for the IC of the
biweekly's to come?
" To be honest, don't rely on promos alone. Have some diversity with
the way you collect points. Winning iC of the biweekly isn't only a
testament of you being a hard worker, but being representative of
the passion you put into things. As such, I would advice people to go
out and join different Special Units and just have fun in general. For
future iC's of the biweekly periods, just go out and prove that you
deserve it. Above all else, just be yourself and do what you want to
accomplish."

Cinco De Mayo!
Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for the fifth of May, is commonly
construed as a Mexico's Independence Day (which occurs on
September 16th), but actually this is a holiday that celebrates the
Mexican army's victory over the French army at the Battle of
Puebla which occurred on May 5, 1862. It's called 'The Battle of
Puebla" because it took place in Puebla, Mexico. While it's not
exactly a national holiday in Mexico, Cinco de Mayo has developed
into a celebration of Mexican culture and history in the United
States, particularly in places where people of Mexican descent live,
however, some who are not of Mexican descent still partake in the
celebration around the world. In many cities, you will find there are
parades and events featuring Mexican culture and music, dancing,
and food in honor of this victory back in 1862. While the fiestas
may be very fun and enjoyable, please take the time to educate
yourself and realize why this is such an important day, what
Mexicans had to endure and why it's celebrated.
Happy celebrating!
Happy birthday to FreakyDean
