Hi all, Happy August! Hope you all had a great month of July! This month Dr.
Sikes visited students and faculty in Abilene and Odessa, TX in July. Her visit
included participating with students during a live stream webcam presentation
delivered by noted veteran and leadership expert, Jan Rutherford. Mr. Rutherford
shared his inspiring and encouraging message on Self-Reliant Leadership. Mr.
Rutherford is the author of The Littlest Green Beret: On Self-Reliant Leadership
and founder of Self-Reliant Leadership. I attended the Lackland AFB Education
Fair Friday July 28 in San Antonio, TX along with Sarah Innis and Ashley Forti
from the School of Pharmacy. Team RWB Lubbock had a great time
participating in volunteer work at the Lubbock Dream Center and getting a tour of
the Texas Tech football facilities. Last, but certainly not least our own Sara
Henly (TTUHSC VA Certifying Official/Coordinator) gave birth to her son Asher
Mason Henly on July 13, 2017.

United Stated Coast Guard will be This month I will be attending an event at Goodfellow AFB August 10 in San
celebrating its 227th birthday Angelo, TX. Interviews for the 2018 class will take place this month in Round
Rock and Lubbock, TX. Last, current students will complete second (summer)
August 4th, 2017. Happy Birthday semester and begin their last and final third (fall) semester this month!

Veterans Day 2017

For this upcoming Veterans Day, we are calling for photos of all TTUHSC
veterans, military, as well as family members who have served. Please see the
attached flyer for details, as well as the Photo Release Consent to accompany all
submissions. Photos will be displayed at the Lubbock Campus the week of
Veterans Day November 11, 2017. If you have any questions at all please refer
them to Sara Henly or Kyle Chapman. All photos, using the parameters on the
flyer as a guide, can be emailed, mailed, or dropped off in person. Please submit
copies of photos you would not need returned. Thank you very much and we look
forward to hearing from many of you.

Zoom

• This month I will hold Zoom office hours Friday, August 11 starting at 2pm and ending
at 4pm (CT).

• Zoom allows us to have face to face interaction for all who decide to attend. Also, it
will help answer questions that you may not have thought of and will allow us all to
explore answers and options together. Zoom is currently what is used within the
TTUHSC SON as the main form of communication. So, this will also give you a head
start and familiarity.

• This month I ask that you RSVP to my email [email protected]. I will then
send you an email with the link to join.

• To access Zoom you can do one of two things. First option is to go through your
application provider and download the free version of Zoom and follow instructions.
Second option is click on link from your computer and follow instructions.
