THE GOAL

RAISE
$75,000 IN
15 MINUTES

Our  Fund-in-Need goal is simple.

We aim to raise $75,000 in 15 minutes through our Fund-
in-Need Paddle Raise Appeal during the live auction at Art

& Soul '18 on Saturday, March 3 at 9:00 p.m.

With these funds, we will create yet another Mission
Moment with your choice to impact instruction for  every

student by creating modernized arts integration
environments shaped by teaching and learning.

Raise your paddle and join us as we fulfill our mission to
inspire and enable our children to reach their full

potential by providing a rigorous education combining
academic excellence, an arts-integrated curriculum, and a

strong Catholic foundation.

We hope you will consider making a gift during
this year's Art & Soul Fund-in-Need Paddle
Raise to help us achieve our vision.

PADDLE RAISE APPEAL

A  look inside our Visual Art Studio

At AACA, teaching and learning shape our environment – we are not restricted by the
physical confines of a century-old campus. Our creative educator community seeks to use
every nook and cranny of our space to reflect conversations about the learning happening in
our classrooms, our hallways, our community, and beyond.

It is with this spirit of continuous improvement in mind that we identified our fund-in-need
appeal to modernize AACA's art spaces by both updating our current studios and creating a
new location for engaging students using all art forms through an integrated, interactive
display.

It is necessary to update our existing studio facilities in order to provide the highest level of
educational instruction. This year's appeal will improve the studios' functionality through
supporting better storage and seating in the visual arts studio, replacing worn out flooring
in the drama space, and expanding the range of musical instruments used in our general
music, band, and choir programs.

It is also necessary to provide as many opportunities as possible for AACA students to build
our caring, Catholic learning community. Located at the school's second-floor center
staircase landing, The Arts Integration Hub will transform the space currently occupied by
an out-of-use trophy case. Literally located in the heart of the school, The Arts Integration
Hub will showcase and support arts-integrated work while building community through
conversations.

Designed for teachers to guide small groups of students in interactive, reflective
conversations about their learning, The Arts Integration Hub will engage all learners in
thematic content planned to complement academic curricula. Faculty will be supported
with ongoing professional development to maximize the space's impact on instruction and
learning.

PADDLE RAISE APPEAL

Curious students peek into learning happening inside The iStudio, the 2016-17 Fund-in-Need

The comfortable environment will create opportunities for community-building
conversations based on other students’ work and ideas. Its intimate scale will encourage
introspection and provide new dimensions for students to interpersonally relate –
something that is not always possible in a large classroom format.

When not in use as an adaptive and interactive learning spot, The Arts Integration Hub will
showcase the process and products of arts-integrated teaching, providing passers-by of all
ages an opportunity to explore others' learning.

The Arts Integration Hub will also be home to presentations and performances from our
academic and art classes in all grades. Below shelving for visual artwork, the space features
a chalkboard wall to be used for tactile engagement with the hub’s content or even as a
student-designed backdrop for dramatic or musical performances.

Creating The Arts Integration Hub will offer students more opportunities to learn together.
When children work together, each is developing his or her own process by learning from
the thinking process of the others. When students believe that others play an active role in
contributing to their learning, identity, and knowledge, a very important door to the joy of
being together is opened.

Funding this project will make the process of student learning
through arts integration visible in a way that cannot be

accomplished by traditional bulletin boards or classroom displays
alone. Once funded, it will impact instruction for every student at

Alphonsus Academy as soon as Fall 2018.
