HOWE DELL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
15th May 2015
Dear Parents/Carers
Highlight of the week has been technology based. This includes the launch of whole school access to Twitter.
This provides immediate sharing of school events and has been positively received by parents. So far this closed
group has 110 followers. The new cameras now mean whole class photography can happen and the iPads have
been ordered. In the meantime our old computers have been successfully redistributed to Howe Dell families.
To demonstrate creativity and the impact of technology on writing, a calendar and illustrated poetry book have
been published by Howe Dell. The calendar is pre populated for school from September 2015 – August 2016.
See slip overleaf to pre order copies.
Yours sincerely
Debra Massey
Head of Howe Dell School
Dance Competition
We wish good luck to Samara, Emma, Isabelle, Cameron, Saskia and Sebastian who will be taking part in the
‘Choice to Dance’ competition next Thursday at Hatfield Western Auditorium. Having seen their performance
it is evident how much practice and effort they have all put in to produce a fantastic dance piece. We would
also like to thank Kerry from Funkyds who has supported to make it possible for the children to enter the
competition. If you would like to go along and support please call the box office on 01707 281127 or visit
[email protected] to purchase tickets.

of this survey form part of this project. There are no right or wrong answers, so please answer as honestly as you
can. It should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete. Thank you.

Twitter
We would like to invite parents at Howe Dell to join Twitter as an extra form of communication with the school. Many
Year 5 and Year 6 parents already follow Howe Dell and have had the opportunity to use it to see what fun their
children were having whilst on school journeys and at the recent Badger Watch, as well as photographic workshops.
Most recent updates include outcomes from 2 Steves and evidence of learning around the school plus Circus
reminders.
If you would like to follow us on Twitter please add @HoweDellSchool and return the slip below so the school can
accept you. Please note siblings will not be added.

Poem by Elikem Y1.C1
(Inspired by Iain Green’s Wonder Day recently)
Behind the bush, behind the bush, there could be….
An existing rabbit
A speedy eagle
An extreme donkey
A fierce dragon
A powerful tiger
A ferocious lion
A gigantic giraffe
Or an angry dinosaur
