Ministry of Ayush
Shri. Sarbananda
Sonowal Government of India
Union Cabinet Minister, I am extremely happy to note that the World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) and Arogya Expo is going to be
Ministry of Ayush & held in Panaji, Goa, during 8th 11th of December 2022. It is the ninth edition of this hugely popular event,
Ministry of Ports, both nationally and internationally. This edition was supposed to be held in 2020, but the sudden outbreak of
Covid pandemic and the subsequent curbs in travel and gathering had led to its postponement. Nevertheless,
Shipping and Waterways WAC is back again and I wholeheartedly welcome it!
Government of India
Speaking of Covid-19, I have nothing but heartfelt gratitude towards the whole Ayurvedic fraternity for
standing up against the onslaught of Covid pandemic. Needless to say, Ayurveda did save millions of human
lives by keeping a check on the spread of the dreaded disease and curing many, especially in the rural areas
of the country. Today, people, in general, are much more aware of the efficacy of Ayurvedic medicines during
the pandemic period. At the same time, it is important to consolidate the gains and promote Ayurveda even
further. The 9th edition of WAC and Arogya Expo is highly important in that context. The theme of this edition
is ‘Ayurveda for One Health’.
On behalf of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, I extend support and best wishes to the World
Ayurveda Foundation and Vijnana Bharati for the smooth conduct of the event. I welcome all national and
international delegates, academicians, scientists, doctors and practitioners, students, businesses, etc. to the
biggest platform. Goa, the tourist paradise, awaits you!
Thanking you…

MESSAGE DR. PROMOD SAWANT 10th June, 2022 AYURVEDA FOR
ONE HEALTH
Dr. Pramod Sawant CHIEF MINISTER, GOA
Chief Minister of Goa MESSAGE
Being an Ayurvedic doctor myself and Chief Minister of Goa, it gives me immense pleasure to
host the 9th edition of the World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo 2022 (8th-11th December
2022). From 2002 onwards, this event had captured the imagination of all stakeholders in the field
of Ayurveda.
Each edition of WAC and Arogya Expo had seen enthusiastic participation of the stakeholders from
both India and overseas. Over 4000 delegates in academic sessions and over 4 lakh footfalls in the
exhibition halls showcasing Ayurvedic products and services for each edition speak for itself. One
will find all leading product manufacturers and service providers putting their best foot forward at
their display halls.
The policy advisories that state and central governments receive from WAC, after each edition have
always enriched the policy-making process. With an intense desire to promote Ayurveda further in
Goa. I too look forward to the invaluable suggestions at the end of 9th WAC.
Let me call upon all potential delegates, businesses, and other stakeholders and well-wishers from
overseas to visit to Goa & to enjoy both the WAC and the scenic beauty of Goa. Let me assure you,
December is the best time to explore Goa and you will find it at its best during this time.
Looking forward to welcoming you all! (Dr. Pramod Sawant)

Dr. Munjpara
Mahendrabhai Government of India
Kalubhai The 9th edition of the World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) and Arogya Expo will be organised in
Goa during 8th-11th of December 2022. As you may be aware, WAC has been the biggest
Hon’ble Minister of State, platform for Ayurveda stakeholders around the world ever since its first edition in Kochi in 2002.
Ministry of Ayush and
Ministry of Women & Thereafter, WAC has travelled to Jaipur, Pune, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, etc. Even the
Child Development, Middle East too has hosted WAC in the past. On an average, 4000 delegates from around the
Govt. of India world participated in each its editions. The Arogya Expo, an exhibition of Ayurvedic products and
services, has attracted the general public to the tune of over 4 lakh footfalls during the event.
Gaining popularity and momentum with each subsequent edition, the 2022 edition will deliberate
on ‘Ayurveda for One Health’. With eminent speakers, Acharyas, brilliant academicians and policy
makers sharing their knowledge and wisdom, the take-aways for those participating in WAC 2022
will be worth carrying for the rest of their lives.
Businesses will find the Arogya Expo as rewarding and fulfilling as they were in the earlier editions.
I wholeheartedly welcome the initiatives of the World Ayurveda Foundation and Vijnana Bharati and
wish them, the best for its successful conduct. Let me also take this opportunity to exhort students,
Ayurvedic practitioners across the world, and other stakeholders to be a part of this largest platform
for Ayurveda.
Needless to mention, Goa with all its beautiful beaches and other gifts of Mother Nature will be at
her best during December. An added incentive to participate in WAC 2022!

MESSAGE AYURVEDA FOR

Message
Vd. Rajesh Kotecha As Secretary in the Ministry of Ayush, I welcome the initiative of the World Ayurveda Foundation to
organize the 9th edition of the World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo during 8-11 December 2022.
Secretary, The 9th edition of this biennial event was supposed to be held in 2020, but could not take place due to
Ministry of Ayush pandemic situation induced by the spread of Covid.
Govt. of India The Ministry of Ayush takes pride and satisfaction in the way Ayurveda and its practitioners responded
to the Covid pandemic. Ayurveda did play a huge role in controlling the spread of Covid. By boosting
the immunity of citizens through herbal and Ayurvedic medicines and Yoga as well as by treating Covid-
infected people back to their normal health status, Ayurveda and Yoga did make deep inroads not only
into the nook and corner of the country but also entered into the mind space of most people in the
country through the e cacy of its medicines.
In the aftermath of such a devastating pandemic and Ayurveda’s positive contributions, the time is ripe
for furthering the cause of Ayurveda nationally and globally. To that extent, the 9th WAC and Arogya Expo
2022 assumes huge importance.
I am positive that all stakeholders will participate in the Congress and help each other in learning and
sharing the knowledge and wisdom possessed by each one. The Ministry of Ayush will look forward to the
outcomes and outputs of the rich deliberations, which have been the hallmark of each WAC.
My best wishes to all!
New Delhi

Dr. Vijay P Bhatkar The wait is finally over! The World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo are back!
Mentor This time in Panaji, Goa…a place that is blessed with beautiful beaches, inviting architecture, wonderful people,
Vijnana Bharati and is considered as a paradise for tourists from all over the world.
Mark your calendar: 8th-11th December 2022, a time of the year when Goa and Goans come alive in all
respects.
The pain of not being able to organise WAC in 2020 due to Covid-19 pandemic is being erased now as the
preparations for WAC 2022 have begun in full swing. I am as elated as anybody or everybody in the Ayurveda
fraternity is, to say the least, about the impending reunion of the stakeholders of this great Indian health
science.
Like in the past, we anticipate huge participation this time too – from different stakeholder groups. As with
earlier editions, WAC 2022 will also have something invaluable for every delegate, participant, business entity,
and other stakeholders as the whole programme is being designed to ensure that.
So watch out for those important dates for information regarding registration, abstract submission, boarding
and lodging, travel, Arogya Expo stall booking, etc. on our website www.ayurworld.org and in your mail inbox
too.
I take this opportunity to thank the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and the Government of Goa for
extending their support to WAC and Arogya Expo 2022.
Looking forward to welcoming you all.

As Chairman of the National Organising Committee of the 9th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) and Arogya
Expo 2022, I am extremely happy that this largest platform for Ayurveda stakeholders is going to unfold again
in Goa, this December. Although the Covid-induced cancellation of the event in 2020 was disappointing, the
pandemic hit period provided an opportunity to Ayurveda to showcase to the world as to what it can do as a
preventive and curative treatment practices and medicines. Our physicians, Vaidyas, and others rose to the
occasion to provide immense relief to millions of people in the country.
Dr. P.M. Varier I am sure Ayurveda doctors, Vaidyas, Acharyas, practitioners of tribal medicines, and Ayurveda clinics and
hospitals, and Ayurvedic medicine manufacturers, and others will have plenty of stories and case studies to

The World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) is a platform established by
World Ayurveda Foundation to propagate Ayurveda globally in its
true sense.
The rst World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) was held in 2002 at Kochi as an outreach programme,
to create greater awareness and opportunities in the practice, science, and trade of Ayurveda. The
subsequent Congresses organised at Pune, Jaipur, Bangalore, Bhopal, Delhi, Kolkata & Ahmedabad
were not only helped in promoting Ayurveda within the country but also had a huge impact in
propagating Ayurveda globally.
Previous themes of the Congress were “Ayurveda and World Health”, “Globalisation of Ayurveda”,
“Mainstreaming Ayurveda”, “Ayurveda for All”, “Enriching Public Health Through Ayurveda”,
“Health Challenges and Ayurveda”, “Strengthening the Ayurveda Ecosystem” and “Re-aligning
the Focus on Health”.
Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi, along with World Health Organization head Dr. Tedros
Ghebreyesus, officially launched the first-of-its-kind WHO Global Centre for Traditional
Medicine (GCTM) in Jamnagar on April 21, 2022. Through the GCTM, the alternative
medicines and therapies are getting ready for a makeover under which WHO will promote the
safe and effective use of traditional medicines by regulating, researching, and integrating the
products, practitioners, and practices into health systems, where appropriate.
Data also shows that WHO traditional and complementary medicinal products were among
the top five most downloaded products from the WHO website in the year 2020.
