Deputy Headmaster and Senior Housemaster
6 November 2018
Dear Parents
The Examinations Season has arrived at school, so I thought I would supply you with some helpful
information and then also ask for your assistance in making the last month of 2018 as problem-free as
possible.
The F5 boys have already started with their examinations, the F4 boys start on Wednesday and the rest
of the school start next week. Because of this, there are some areas which need clarification.
Boys are required to:
write exams in day dress
shave
comb their hair
arrive 20 minutes before the start of their exams
ensure that they have the relevant stationery for the exams.
Boarders have a routine schedule for their exams which is shared with them.
If a boy does not have an exam, but is on campus, he must please be in either day dress or sports
uniform, be cleanly shaven and have combed hair.
A compulsory event is the Carol Service on Friday 23 November at the St Alban’s Cathedral in Pretoria.
Transport will leave the school at 5pm and will probably return to the school by 8.30pm. Please inform
your housemaster should your son need a lift to and from the service. I would like to encourage as many
parents to attend as possible. Parking is arranged by the school at the Cathedral.
The last day for exams for F1 to F3 is on Friday 30 November. The day will end with an Assembly and a
Eucharist for all F1 to F4 boys and this should finish by 1:00pm. Dress for this Assembly is Number 1s.
The F1 and F2 boys will leave on their hikes on Monday 3 December and will return on Wednesday 5
December. They can leave school from 1pm. During this time, the F3 boys will be on Work Experience.
They do not need to return on Wednesday.
The last exam for F4 is on Monday 3 December. On Tuesday and Wednesday, 4 and 5 December
respectively, the F4 boys will be involved in Leadership activities with Mr Kidwell and me. Each day will
start at 8am. Tuesday will finish at 4pm. We will finish with lunch at around 1:00 pm on the Wednesday.
The December holiday starts thereafter.
I hope this information helps with your planning.
Yours sincerely
Michael Schwartz
